I honestly think, albeit the long list of things wrong with it, the most aggravating and honestly completely useless/pointless aspect of the Verizon wireless UI has got to be the "alert"-style confirmation messages.
For example, regardless of the condition, whenever ANY option is set, or something failed, a pop-up style alert is given to you, which lasts approximately three seconds; however, the time delay is not so much the nuisance as the whole principle of the matter is.
Typically, in any sort of UI, whether it be OS or Browser, or what have you, one would expect to see a similar sort of confirmation or 'alert' type of pop-up when say, something failed, or you receive a warning, or something critical or pertinent occurred. However, under their current implementation, you receive a said style alert for just about everything, which is totally ludicrous.
Perhaps I am just ranting on about something most people would simply find trivial, as admittedly, it would not appear to hinder or impede any functional usage of the phone, however, it is things like this which I find only go to further exemplify the numerous shortcomings and blatant failures of Verizon Wireless.
Ranting and raving welcome

It most be trivial to me because when one talks about the UI (I think I know what one is referring to but, hey then again maybe I don't! ) So I wish someone would enlighten me, and if it is what I think, to me it is trivial though may bother others! Hope all that made sense to everyone else but me!! Someone PLEASE tell me what UI really means so I can clarify in my sometimes overloaded mind! Thanks!

UI == User Interface
UI is a pretty broad term since it encompasses pretty much everything the user is given outright, such as the various menus and selection one can make on them, including how difficult it is to get to some critical features
Moreover, what the various buttons do, and when.
Hope this gives you a general idea of at least what I was refering to
I'm sure you could get a more accurate and detailed description online
I'm curious to hear people's response to my initial opinion as well as perhaps additional rants regarding the crummy Verizon Wireless UI

VZW's UI is, in my opinion, geared toward the lowest common denominator. In other words, the 85 year old crone who, when you ask for their phone number, presses it in on the keypad instead of telling you. That is VZW's strength AND it's weakness, as the techo-savvy don't like the simplicity of it.

No, seriously. They must have [some of] -the- worst designers/programmers .
I mean seriously, I have YET to see a "new" (modern), phone which CONVENIENTLY will tell you what phone number it is currently running under with less than 5-8 key strokes and/or fumbling around menus.
Tampadelphian, your statement is totally accurate - however, on that account, there are still many capabilities which are quite rudamentary and yet they are "difficult" to access, for ANY user... so on that note it is indeed a double-edged sword (if only it was a sword... then at least it would be unequivocally good for something)
The list could go on, though I'm glad people are replying, I suppose I'm mostly curious as to what other people's impressions of the UI are
--thanks for your input tampadelphian.
Oh and for the record, among ten thousand stupid firmware things they lack simple, common sense on, tonights will most definitely be the fact that the phone's display(s) will NOT shut off if the handset is connected to an external power source (charging); what an ingenious design!
Come on people, stir the pot ... fan the flames ... state your opinions!

That is what I thought it was.. thanks for clarifying it.. Sorry, I can't fan any flames as it does bother me what buttons, etc .. I just learn the new ph and go from there.. Good luck to those that want it changed, guess you never know if enough complain it might just get changed!

haha, Texan.
Nah, with vzw, it's just all about a user or group of users who are fucking tired and fed up with putting with their shit, and decide to violate their TOS, and fix it FOR them. heh.
Thank you, 1337 ph0n3 h4x0rs!11
If only they didn't make their [terrible] software so proprietary... haha.
... hmm, maybe I'll just install linux on my phone.

Let's see. I'm using the LG VX-8300. Menu. 5. So that's 2. Of course, that brings up my name card. For my phone to display the NAM, something I don't play with much: Menu. Right. Right. 9. 1. That's five.
I'll have to check the 8000 to see how it works on non-BT phones.
But, in response to the main topic: You know, I've never had a problem with alerts and their delays... What I have had the biggest problem with the UI is the lack of organization. The Contacts, Messaging, and Recent Calls menus are logically layed out, but Settings & Tools and Get It Now show an obvious focus.
I would figure, where I have my VZW Navigator is where I'd find other functional programs. I don't think my Alarm or Calendar function as a "Tool," but a program. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who feels this way.
Secondly, the camera functionality are tools--so why are they located in Get It Now?

I think the Verizon UI just literally sucks.
That's what I think.
