I got this motorolla SLVR phone from ebay, unlocked and brand new, it worked good for a day or so. Now it stays on "emergency only" and i cant use it to call anyone. When i checked the bands on it it says, "GSM 900/1800-1900". Does this mean it is Tri-band right now and not Quad-band like it needs to be??? Can someone please help me

So there is absolutely no way to change this? Not even if i take it to a cingular rep? It just has the T-mobile network in it

you can move to an area that has the 1900 and then you can use it, but thats the risk you take w/ third parties and ebay

I have a similar phone I bought unlocked from a licensed Cingular franchise. I purchased it as quad band, but couldn't get service in a 900 frequency area. Spoke with Motorolla and they said it is available as a 3 mode with either 850 or 900, or as a quad mode. When I took the phone in they said, "It was tri band when we received them but we flashed them with quad band software". Doesn't sound possible or logical to me. Any help?

Its logical, the hardware may have supported 4 bands, but only 3 were programmed to be visible, thus with the right Firmware or perhaps seem edit, it can be enabled.
