hi,
ive dont all that, but you mentioned "8hz". dude i think you ment 8kHzcause 8Hz is way too small. anyway, i recorded a 40s clip in the sound recorder that comes with windows. when i saved it, i chose 8.000kHz, 16 bit, Mono---------15kb/sec.
yes it can allow you to do that.i saved it as "test.wav". then i ran miksoft and choose Wave to AMR conversion. i browsed for the input file and created and output fle(by the way, you can just select a directory and type a file name such as test.amr). i choose 795 as the MR. after that i clicked on "convert now". it opens a DOS window then a message comes up noting "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem", you can choose "close" or "ignore". clicking on close will not continue with the conversion. so i choose "ignore". then it shows "frame=----" where "----" is a count from 1 - 1000. after the count (which happens very fast) the DOS window closes. i then see the conversion window where time elaspsed time stops on 6sec and the green bar stops with the time. i can then only choose "finish". the output file "test.AMR" is only 18 seconds long. im using win XP and ive tried it on 2000 and ME. all give me the same problem.
so what can i do now?
thanks.

I know that it allow you to do that but it does not convert it correct.. Just follow the instructions from http://miksoft.evzonastravel.com/tutorialAMR.htm and REconvert your file with Total Recorder.. Yes, i ment 8KkHz

can u help |
Make sure your sampling frequency is right.
Try using Winamp. Use the Output plugin: Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in v2.0c (x86) [out_disk.dll] Configure it to make a output file in the format PCM 16.000 kHz 8 bit Mono.
Since Winamp can play most audio format, it is an excellent audio converter. And it is free! www.winamp.com

| Ganxta B wrote: | Ok, here's another thing that was actually caused by the tenth post with this question: how to convert .amr to .wav and the other way around? Well, there's a nice lil proggie here called MIKSOFT's Mobile AMR Converter. Download it from here. It has a strange "bug" however. When selecting the output file in a conversion, you can't create a new .wav/.amr file, but instead, you need to select an existing file (any extension) so that the data can be converted to amr and vice versa. Dun worry, it doesn't overwrite the file you needed to select, it will only have a strange name like this for eg: personal_data.doc.amr (or) .wav The latter extension name is the real one, so afterwards you can rename it to anything you like.
But remember: .amr isn't a 5.1 speaker system quality. In fact, it hardly reaches 20 kbps quality, so the only sounds that will be comprehensive in the output file are the ones in 1 meters range of the phone. From further off, everything's a bit distorted. Perhaps you'll be able to record in better quality via the Sony Ericsson P900's CommuniCorder. |
