I just bought the D807 and I have the bluetooth program so that I can put mp3's on to the phone. I downloaded a song into my phone but it says that I cannot set it as a ringtone. Is there a way that I can without having to use a program to cut it and all that? Is the point of having the MP3 player on the phone just to listen to the music or can I use it as a ringtone?
Also, most of my music is in the M4a format and it won't let me upload it to my phone nor will it let me convert it to a MP3. Is there a way that I can still put them on my phone?
Thanks for the help!
Jess

I downloaded the software from the samsung website for the phone and then I just used the music manager to transfer them. You have to pair the phone and the computer together (I really don't know what this means, I just followed directions of the bluetooth usb port that I bought).
But I was still wondering if I could use these mp3's as ringtones? Because that is what I'd want to do.

M4a's are Apple's AAC files that are protected. these cannot be used as ring tones. You need to have a pure MP3 to use and it has to be a specific type. This is what I have found to work as it's the same as my old Motorola:
44100 Hz
96 kbps
mono
24 - bit

Go into the Preferences under iTunes.
Go to Advanced and then click the Importing tab.
Where it says "Import Using" pick MP3 Encoder.
Under Setting, pick Higher Quality (192kbps).
Click OK.
Now just go into your library, pick the song you want to put on your d807 and right-click and choose "Convert to MP3." This should create an actual MP3 from your M4A.
Right-click on this new file you've created and choose Get Info. Go under Summary. Here you will see the path to the file you've just created. Now, just find that file and bluetooth it over to your phone.
Additional note: I've noticed that 500kb is around the size of an MP3 that can still be used as a ringtone. I'm not sure what the maximum file size for an MP3 for the purposes of a ringtone are, but I know I have some MP3s that are 800k and above and they are not available as a ringtone. They are available to play just as an MP3, but just not as a ringtone. Hope I was clear.

Jess87 how did you get the software from the Samsung site to install. I downloaded the software and I am receiving a version error. It will not complete installation.

I know exactly how to convert an mp3 file into a ringtone, but in return I ask that you tell me how you got an mp3 file onto your phone? Did you have to record, did you download, and was it free?

What the D807 uses for ringtones is a format called .dm
When you look in the manual it SAYS MP3s can be used as ringtones, but in actuality if you buy a ring tone you will see it comes across as a .dm
There are programs out there to convert an .MP3 to a .dm but I think its a pain to do - easier just to find it already made into a ringtone.
Hope that helps :)
