This is how you do it. Download this program from sony. its free so dont worry. I cant post the link because i am a first time poster. Google search DRM packager

Install it. Pick the mp3s you want to use as a ringtone and drag them into the screen of the program and hit the "Create DRM Document". It will create a DRM folder. Copy these files to your phone anywhere you like them to be stored. This basically opens up the rights to use as a ringtone. You dont have to trim the song to 30 seconds. It can be as long as you want it to be. Also, once you convert them, you can still play them as mp3's on your computer so you dont have to have doubles. It works!

You could also just keep that specific song you want as your rightone on your phone and make the whole song your ringtone.just go to your menu>file manager>sounds> folder your song is in>click on "more" on the song> "Use as">Ringtone.

walla. =)

Thanks mcaruana - the DRM packager worked great! I got this phone yesterday, and think it's just great so far, but I couldn't use my own tunes as a ringtone until I did this.

To avoid confusion I just wanted to clarify for other users: you need to copy the output of the packager to your phone, not the original MP3, and then choose that as your ringtone. If you're using the Windows version of the packager then it creates a folder called DRM, and a file with extension of .dm.

I'm trying the DRM Packager and when I drag and drop the DRM folder I get the message "no usable music tracks found." What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

OK-now I'm replying to my own post.LOL. I was able to transfer the DRM files to my phone into the ringtone folder but I am still unable to "select" the ringtones although I can play them.

Any ideas? I'm on Cingular, btw.

Thanks!
