I HATE this phone! This is the worst phone I have ever owned. I have had the phone for just over a week, and being a geek I have read the user manual and played with it extensively.
These are the main reasons I hate this phone... 1) Only one theme is provided with the phone, which you can not update. 2) The polyphonic ring tones that come pre installed sound very dated and you would feel embarrassed if your phone rang in public. 3) I bought a 1 GB micro memory card - if you turn the phone off it DOES NOT recognise the card. 4) In order to use one of your MP3' s stored on your memory card as a ring tone you need you need to copy it to the phone..? - WHY? 5)If you have the head phones plugged in a little "flap" of plastic sticks out of the phone - I will put money on this "flap" of plastic breaking off my phone before Xmas... 6) Any MP3's you upload will need to have very short file names with no "special" characters i.e. -)(*&^%$£"! your phone will not recognise them. 7) You can not view any photos on your memory card in "slideshow" mode (again you have to copy them to the phone to do this! (WHY!?) The phone came pre installed with a demo of Sonic The Hedgehog - WOW! I thought, but the phone is too slow to run the game! Sonic is often to be seen suspended in mid air. 9) The other guy who reviewed this phone has obviously never owned a PDA - This phone has VERY limited synchronisation with Outlook, and any notes you have saved with contacts will not be transferred. (You can view XLS, DOC PDF files on the screen, but the screen is so tiny it is not worth it. 10) The phone feels “cheap” very flimsy plastic battery cover, and I think it will get scratched very quickly. 11) I admit the phone looks very nice, has a great 3mb camera, but as soon as you start using it you will grow to hate it. The only people that have been impressed by this phone are my girlfriend’s teenage brother and sister, and my drunken student mates who looked at it like it was a gold ingot… STAY AWAY FROM THIS PHONE!

Hi and thanks to all for pointing me in the right direction. Bought a Kingston 1GB module, it worked at first, gradually became more unstable and eventually wouldn't work at all. Today I bought a 1GB Sandisk and it works perfectly. I can take it out with the phone on and put it back with no problems. Switch the phone off and back on, perfect.
The only problem with the Sandisk is the danger of disemboweling yourself while trying to open that damn welded plastic packaging.

Hi there all i had the same problem.
Put memory card in blah blah it detects it then when you try to access it it comes up with "Not Allowed"
Which greatly annoyed me after fiddling about with it for at least 30 minutes
Then i just thaught to put the memory in again
And quickly press the silver camera button (on the side )
And then it comes up with memory card inserted.
"Continue Camera? Yes/No" click no.
Try your memory card now to access it it should work.
Well it did for me
Thanks
Please let me know if this worked for you and if you need any more tips on samsungs
Matt

I brought a sandisk miro card 2BG for my samsung D900 that i could not get to work tried all sorts, so failing all the stuff i read on here and elsewhere, got fed up and phoned up samsung help line, the answer was that the only size that is Guaranteed to work is the 512 size card although you may get others to work they are not guaranteed to do so.
What a dissappointment i love my D900 and hung my nose over one for months before i got one. For a phone of this spec the size of the supported external memory is sssssoooooooooo dissappointing.

i have joined this forum just to share this solution. The D900 uses fat 16 so if you format it with a card reader when you right click on the drive which the card becomes use the arrow at the end of fat 32 and in the drop down list simply select fat this leaves it open and once you have used the quick format simply insert it into the phone and hey presto, say thank you sam as you can pick up these cards dirt cheap and they work fine, i have done 5 for freinds so far and no problems.p,s the d900 accepts up to 1gb cards
