I recently bought a Kingston 1 GB memory card for the D900. It worked fine for the first few days. I uploaded about 600mb of data on it as well.
Yesterday I tried to access the memory card but I get the error message "Not allowed". I tried turning the phone off and on again but the same problem persists. Even tried removing the memory card and reinserting it but it still won't work. But the memory card icon appears on the phone when I insert the card. I also checked the memory status and it says that I have 0KB available on the card and 0KB free. I tried using the memory card in two other Samsung phones and they will not detect it. However I tried inserting other memory cards in my phone and they work fine.
Can anyone please help be solve this problem?
Thanks

Did you format it to FAT first?

Searched the Internet and found many people having problems with Kingston 1GB and the D900. They say it is not compatible, but the Sandisk 1 GB works fine.

Hi im having exactually the same problem with my Kingston 1GB MircoSD card. It worked fine for the first 10minutes then it keeps saying 'Not Allowed'.
I was wondering what was meant by formatting? and how it is done.
Thanx alot, Katy

There are two ways of formatting the card. One is through the phone. But the D900 won't allow that as well after you get the 'Not Allowed' message. You need to attach it to a PC using a card reader and then format it with FAT file system. When you reinsert the card in your phone it will work. But after you turn the phone off and on again you will get the same 'Not Allowed' message.
Don't bother with the Kingston. I've searched everywhere on the Internet and not found anyone who has got the Kingston 1GB to work with the D900. Everyone has been reporting the same problem.
But someone did say that he got it working after a firmware upgrade. But that will void the warranty. So it's best to switch to Sandisk 1 GB like I did.

Here is a way to get it working.
If this doesn''t work, please don''t shoot me,
I switched the phone to Mass Storage (Settings - Phone Settings - USB Settings).
I then removed the card, and then re-inserted it - but then immediately hit my camera button twice to take a picture.
The phone says that the card is inserted and when I go into it it can be accessed.
This fixes the problem about 95% of the time I have tried it.
Hope that helps

Does the 1GB Kingston still work when you turn the phone off and on again. I could get the card to work after formatting it with a card reader, but every time I turned the phone off and then on again, the 'not allowed' message would reappear when I tried to access the card.

I can confirm the above works, I have a Toshiba 1gb memory card, and kept getting "not allowed" messages.
P.S The Samsung D900 is, with out doubt, the WORST phone I have ever owned, and I have had a few, I can think of no reason why anyone would buy this phone, it is a phone for people who have never owned a Nokia.
It is hard to work out what I hate the most, the "London" theme, the rubbish 1990's style polyphonic ring tones, the naff "pen on paper" way of displaying numbers you are dialing, the "try before you buy java games" - WHO IS THIS phone aimed at?
And is it just me or is the 3Mega pixel camera shyte?
I would CRY if I had taken out an 18 month contract with this pants phone.
I got given it by my boss as an Xmas present - I would rather have the money, and will be selling it on ebay ASAP.
P.P.S If you own this phone AND love it, please tell me who you are? I imagine you also own a pink fluffy steering wheel cover for your rusty G reg Nissan Micra, and have a Disney themed tattoo somewhere on your body...
