ok i bought the phone. {ANSWER QUESTION IN BOTTOM OF PAGE PLZ, NOT IN THIS POST}
Hello, im going to buy myself a SK3 in about a week or so and i will begin a new contract with tmobile and have a family plan. i believe there will be about 4 people in the family plan. in the plan i want to get myself a sidekick 3 and my mother will get herself a blackberry pearl (she likes the style) well my questions are:
1) I basically want the phone so i can text message and to talk on it. i want unlimited txt msging. so i saw it was worth 30 dollars a month. but when i went to checkout on my cart at tmobile i saw it was 20 $ so i was thinking to myself that its myabe 20 $ because its a new contract? or is this some kind of an error?
2) I heard the battery doesnt last long and i would like to know if it will atleast last about 6 hours a day usage?. not talking but like txting and stuff (browing the web)
3) If it is 20 $ is that what i will be playing every month and not 30 $?
4) If my SK3 gets robbed, how long will it take to get a new one?
5) Since my uncle is givving me an MDA since he doesnt want his, will i be able to use my sidekick "data plan" (i think thats what i want) on the mda and have internet? or will i only be able to make phone calls
6) Is the MDA better than a sidekick3 for a highschool student or is it a lil too complicated?
wow i cant belive i typed all this. but thanks and i hope to recive feedback

The data plan is $20 a month when paired with any tmobile voice plan. The time for a replacement will vary based on stock on hand, talk to CC about that. I think it would be better than an mda because an mda has many business features you will not need.

1) Sidekick 3 is great for both data and voice. I think your confusion on the $20/30 plans for data is simple. It's $30 if all you want is data-no voice. It's $20 if you combine it with a voice plan.
2) I don't have a definite answer for your battery questions but I would expect the battery to last longer with texting instead of talking. Talking requires the phone to be active continuously while texting does not.
3) As long as you get a voice and data plan you'll be paying $20 for data plus the cost of the voice plan.
4) If you add the $5.99 monthly insurance to your account you should be able to have a phone with in a day or two. I know the deductible for the Sidekick 2 is $110 for a replacement, not sure about the deductible for the Sidekick 3. A police report does have to be filed and provided to the insurance company. The insurance does cover theft/lost phone but doesn't cover water/liquid damage.
5) Using an MDA with the Sidekick data plan will partially work. I am not 100% sure but I beleive texting will work but not the internet
6) I would suggest the Sidekick 3 for high school students. It's more geared towards simple texting/web browsing. The MDA is a great phone but not as simple to use.
I have a great hook up on Sidekick 3/Pearl/MDA and other data phones. If youre are interested just reply with interest.

I am thinking about dropping my plan with Verizon and switching over to T-Mobile and grabbing the SK3, you mentioned a hookup...what does this entail exactly?

Be careful buying phones on forums (not just this one, anyone). People have had money stolen on great deals before.

I believe it is $.15 to send an international txt. Intl msgs received just count toward your message limit you have with tmobile. You do not pay to receive them.
