OK, I have the 02 S/W version LG VX9800 which everyone says to keep (vs. upgrading to S/W 05)because the 02 will play MP3s. Verizon says that 05 will also play MP3s but I have heard otherwise. Do I upgrade to 05 or can someone out there give me a helping hand loading an MP3 into my phone. Tried dragging a song from a CD to the memory card but the message I get when I click on My MP3s in the phone is that no songs found in memory card. The memory card was formatted. The phone is set to MOD/MP3. I have tried going through Windows Media Player, etc. Hope to hear from someone who is familiar with this and can maybe call me on the phone to walk me through this.

Hello. I have the same thing you have: LG VX-9800 with software version 2. When I played my MP3's on my phone, it works fine (I think). I also used BitPim (latest version), as well. If it doesn't help (or if I'm not helping you at all, which I'd like to help you out), let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for writing back. The problem is that I can't get the phone to see the songs on the memory card, the message says no songs found in memory card.

Have you stored the files, such as *.mp3 to your desktop (for reference/backup) and then sent them to your memory card? I don't have any songs in my card (for now). Any other such files as *.mid would work on the phone, as well.
Are you also using BitPim (latest version)?

simple. flip open your vx9800, press OK (for menu), then press 0 seven (7) times. it takes you to the Services screen. Go down to 12.Music Settings, select it. Choose: MP3 Only. End out, then you could view your music on your card... for get all that Music On Demand stuff anyways, I have yet to fegure it out myself.
hope it helps buddie, im new to this Forum thing!

Thank you, Justin. I will try that. And what about BitPim? Can you tell me more about what it does, what version is latest, how to use it?
Thanks,
Franklin

Hi. I'd be happy to help. The URL is http://www.bitpim.org/ Before you install the program, make sure you read its warnings/cautions/whatever; some (or most) phones are compatible with what you have. Some phones has its own operations, features, and all that stuff. For example, on the LG VX-9800, it can manuliplate (sp?) data on your phone, such as transferring files, videos, images, etc... back and forth between 2 ways: 1) appropriate data cable for your phone, and/or 2) Bluetooth (you can find those on ebay or the 'net).
Anyway, after everything's done, you can do a backup of your phone in case something happens to it. There could be bugs in BitPim; however, that is usually updated every now and then, unless updates are necessary.
Does this help?

hello, i was also looking for some help w/mp3 on my vx9800. i already changed my setting to play mp3s, but the music i have on my sd card isn't being read by my phone. it keeps saying that no songs are found in the memory card. i have plenty of them! maybe i'm saving the files incorrectly: i tried saving it in the "my playlist" folder, as well as in the "my music" folder of my mini sd card. neither have worked. does anyone have any suggestions?

ok, soon after posting this, i toyed around with the card a little bit, and re-insterted into my computer. a new folder appeared. this one was labeled "my_mp3s". .
well the obvious thing to do was copy my songs into that folder and see if it worked. . .
lo and behold: it worked!!!!
i guess that should also work for frankiec, too. hope it does.
i officially love my phone all over again.
