I just bought the motorazr Amp'd edition phone. There coverage map on the website showed there was coverage in my area. But I can't get a signal anywere. So I checked there FAQ page and the coverage map there shows there is no coverage in my area.

I have only had it a couple days and it's not been activated, Because I can't get a signal. And I have the box and everything that came with it. So I should be able to send it back for a refund. I am now considering getting a prepaid plan with cingular. There website shows a special edition black razr with the prepaid plan.

My question is could I use the Amp'd edition razr with cingulars prepaid plan?

no there two different network technology, Amp Mobile uses CDMA and Cingular uses GSM. Cingular take sim cards and Amp Mobile does not, so u cant use the Amp Mobile phone with cingular. It is odd that you Amp Mobile phone does not have any coverage in your area, Amp Mobile is really verizon but in a different name. Amp Mobile uses Verizon Towers, so theres no way in hell you dont have coverage in that area that you are in.+

There is no coverage in my area with Amp'd Mobile Or Verizon. You can see for yourself my zip code is 41749. But the weird thing is on Amp'd Mobiles website if I use the check coverage link at the top of the page. It shows coverage in my area. But when I choose a pay as you go plan & enter my zip code. It says there is no coverge. Also I checked Amp'd Mobiles FAQ section & there is a link to another coverage map. When I enter my zip code there it also shows there's no coverage. So one map shows I have coverage but another says I don't.

And Verizon's website shows there is no coverage for almost all of the state. I also checked T Mobiles website & it shows the same thing as Amp'd Mobiles website. On the map it shows theres coverage. But when I choose a phone & plan and enter my zip code. It says there is no coverage. The only one I have found that has coverage here is Cingular & Tracfone. I live in Hyden, KY 41749. My phone says no service. It shows it's roaming for a few minutes but never gets any signal.

You have to understand the difference between prepaid and contracts. With a contract you get full converage, better plans and customer care maybe alot better. Without a contract you dont get as much coverage and u dont get plans that are that good. If Amp Mobile had the same plans and converge as they had with prepaid, everyone would have prepaid and none would want to be in a contract, and that would not make the company any money.

I understand what you're saying. But it doesn't matter what plan I choose prepaid or one of the featured plans. It says there is no coverage in my area. I thought maybe they just didn't offer the prepaid plan in my area. So I tried every plan they have & still get the no coverage message when I enter my zip code.

I emailed Amp'd about this 4 days ago and still haven't gotten a reply. Looks like I'll have to call. But last time I called I was on hold for around 30 minutes. So I hung up & decided to try an email. I also emailed T Mobile & they said the reason their map shows I have coverage but when I enter my zip code to checkout it says there is no coverage. Is because I am in a roaming area with one of there partners & they can't guarantee a signal or the signal strength. So it looks like Cingular is my only choice.

Your right they have long hold times being that they have 1 call center and there a new company, but they have to have coverage in your area, they use Verizon towers, but u have to pick a contract. Better yet do this, go to verizons website and see, and put in your zipcode then see if you have converage there. Then that will Be the final answer, and i would not even get Amp Mobile due to, on there regular rate plans, they only have night, NOT weekends, they dont tell you that unless you ask. Even though i have T-Mobile, i do recommend getting cingular.

I already checked Verizons website. Before I went to Amp'd. It showed there was no coverage for my area. But I didn't know Amp'd used there network or I wouldn't have got it. I have also asked a few people I know that have cell phones. And they all said the same thing. They had to go with Cingular because no one else had coverage for this area. Which I have now found out. Cingular was my first choice. But I liked Amp'd Mobiles prices better. So I went with them.

I spent almost 30 minutes on hold again last night with amp'd and when someone finally answered. They said no one was available to help right now. But they could put me on hold again if I wanted to wait. Or I could call back the next day. So I tried the online chat help. And everything was going good. Then for some reason he just left the chat session. I also haven't gotten a reply back from the email I sent. I understand they are a new company. But this is getting ridiculous.
