Hi All:
I'm getting a new phone in about 2 weeks. I've been in and out of the Verizon stores like a fool playing with the phones, holding them in my hand, wiggling the covers, etc, etc.
I had an LG 2 years ago, but decided to upgrade to the Motorola v710 because it was a prettier phone. The past couple of months have been like hell on wheels. The phone dies at the drop of a hat, does this thing where it flicks on and off for no apparent reason (like when I'm about to make a call or send a message), and pretty much does everything in its power to piss me the hell off!!!
So my contract expires in about a week and a half and I've been trying to decide between the Nokia 6315i and the LG vx8300. The nokia is quite a bit smaller and I've seen that the battery is supposed to last four hours; however, the reviews I've been reading have been to the contrary. Half of them bash the Nokia as having a short life, as well as bad service, while others praise the phone as being a great piece of machinery.
I've seen the LG and I know people that have it, but sometimes I have to go for about 14 hours without a charger. I don't use my phone that much. Maybe about an hour a day in total talk time, but I like to have it on me so if I have to come home late I can inform my loved ones, call a cab, etc. This has not been the case with the Moto, though I've heard tell it's a great phone otherwise. I don't need an mp3 player or a camera; I've already got those. Since the Nokia's smaller and 'supposedly' has a longer battery, I wanted to get it. I just don't want another horror story. I love LG's and I like the 8300 but I worry that all the extra bells and whistles will drain the battery like the Moto did.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been reading through the forums and you guys seem really informed. Btw, I live just outside the city and the old LG had crap service in my apartment, whereas the Motorola has been superb in this regard (the main reason I haven't flung it out the window).
Thanks in advance. I look forward to hearing from you (...anyone? please? hello?...)

I've heard good things about both, but in my experience you would do better with the 8300. Nokia has a bit of a problem with CDMA phones in my opinion---they're much better with GSM---and all of the bells/whistles will only drain your battery if you use them. The 8300 has plenty of standby battery life---for the most part, people can use it for 2 full days easily before having to recharge, unless they use the music player or play a lot of games on it.

Hi tampadelphian. I've noticed you're very high profile on this forum; I was hoping you'd respond. Greetings!
Anyway, I've noticed the Razr is also being offered by Verizon. Though I feel a little hesitant about getting back into bed with Motorola, the Razr is $30 cheaper. Any comments? I've been asking people with them for the past 2 days about any information they can give me, and, as with the forums, I've been getting mixed reviews about it. It's small, yes. It's cute, yes. But can it take a call???
Thanks again. I look forward to your responses.

The sales that are going on are bound to change at any point. The Razr is a good phone but I've heard that it doesn't pick up service as well as some others---but it does have a deceptively long battery life.
In short, you wouldn't be wasting your money with a RAZR, but I don't see anything about it that makes it stand out from the others we've mentioned.

Okay. Excellent. Thank you for your help. As I'm on a budget, I think I'm going to experiment with the Motorola, even though you're right about the sales. All I'm focused on is call quality and battery life, and since there's no real difference between the phones, I'll give it a shot. Thanks again for your input. I hope this helps someone else. Now, on to the bluetooth...

Hello all,
I am new here and wondering what cell phone you think is the best as far as reception goes. My LG also gets crappy service. Consumer reports says the Motorola E815 is the best but Verizon told me they were fading out the E815. Do you have any other suggestions?

I have to push the Motorola V325 for reception/signal.. though it is a "middle of the road" compared to the features on some of the high end phones.. I never hear complaints, good signal has vz navigator (which I like to mess with, but it has a wealth of info one can access, ie traveling in another city and looking for closest ATM for your personal bank, not only does it tell you where it is, it guides you there.) Anyway, all that aside reception is great, have had it almost 10 mos, not one problem..

I have 6315i for a week, it's been good phone so far, better that the last one(V300). It's much lighter, than 8300 or 8500. I can compare all these phones and i can tell you 8500 has best earpiece sound. The nokia has small noticeable noise in there, in 8300 clear but too loud even earpiece volume at low settings.
