HI,
I was hoping to get a little help if possible. I recently bought a NOKIA 7610 and it is unlocked. I put in my SIM card and everything is working fine in terms of my phone book and calendar and other phone features, BUT I cannot make or recieve any calls. If i try to, it says no Network Coverage. Am I supposed to change the settings on the phone, like GPRS and mmode and the like? Or should I return the phone because I will not get any coverage? I think the person who had it before used it with T-Mobile. The Nokia 7610 I bought works on 900/1800/1900 mhz frequencies. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much, I really need It as I feel I might have wasted good money...

if you don't have 1900 band in your area, all you have a nice paper weight. Generally speaking, 1900 is found in major cities and along major highways. If you're in a rural area or in a town where Tmobile is not available chances are there is no 1900 available to you.

I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Pembroke Pines area, I think it's a pretty big city. T-Mobile and Cingular are both available in my area though....

your tri-band phone will work in north america only where there is 1900 MHZ coverage...if you are in a 850 only area that is most likely the crux of your issue...if your service is with Cingualr I would always ensure that your phone is capable of both 850 and 1900 MHZ

...so sell your 7610 and buy the 7610b, which is the NA version that uses 850/1800/1900Mhz. Same exact look of the phone, so you wouldn't miss out on anything.

Thank you so much for your help, I will be returning the 7610, hopefully to invest in the 7610b or another compatible 850/1900 mhz phone! Thanks again!
