The issue w/most people is they don't listen, they just want what they want , when they want it.. That is still back on them for not listening....Do you know how many people I talk to daily, want to change their calling plan, but they are in a hurry and don't pay attention to one single word you say, and trust me the very first thing I say to them is the contract date, if it is changing..and the customer, sure, no problem cause they don't want to pay for going over their minutes, then 6 mo's down the road, after the fact, they try to say their contract date is wrong...Happens everyday, guess one needs to slow down, take it easy and pay more attention...(BTW, they also get letter in the mail, guess they fail to read that also.)

The bait I took was indeed agreeing to extend contract for one more year in exchange for "free" phone. I never got the phone but was charged for it. My first question to Verizon was why had I been charged for a free phone. They said it was because I didn't send in some card that was in the phone package. I had not received the phone so could not have sent in accompanying card. FedX did have trackng info. Someone, whom I don't know, signed for it. I live in an apt. building with 160 units. I have no idea who signed for this phone but it was not me or anyone I know or anyone that the superintendent knows. This did not matter to Verizon. I explained that the contract I'd agreed to incuded a free phone. I argued with them for months, to no avail. A rep told me that the phone in any case was a "gift" (so why were they charging for it??) and that the contract had requirements for me only. They didn't have to provide a phone if they didn't want to. This was insane. They not only charged me for a phone I never got, they charged for two lines to be disconnected, and a fine, as if they're a government entity with laws unto themselves. The collection agency was so threatening, I gave up and gave in and allowed myself to be robbed because I could not get help from any person at Verizon. Their offer of mediation, as I said, was a joke. In my opinion they get away with it simply because they can. It's bullying. It's immoral. And I will encourage everyone I know to never, ever deal with Verizon. In addition to getting rid of them at my work, I've cancelled my Verizon land line and internet and am much happier with their competition. I just don't understand why a business would treat people so shabbily.

How much did they charge you for the "Free" phone. Verizon's early termination fee is $175. So for two lines that's $350. Where did the rest come from. Were their unpaid bills, overages etc? You also said someone else at your apartment complex with 160 units signed for your phone. You trash Verizon, who you know shipped the phone, but did you ever persue anything with the apartment complex or FedEx for causing all this? I'll be the first to say with every company sometimes you can run into bad customer service reps, but it doesn't sound like you're being completely fair. Prove me wrong.

I think responders are working for Verizon. The additional bills were for service for 3 months plus fines. I had no phone or no service for those three months and had repeatedly asked to have my original termination request honored snce they didn't honor their end of the deal -- charging me for a phone I did not receive. My contact with "customer service" was beyond rude. They were truly nasty and seemed to enjoy being nasty. For a completely different experience, I had trouble getting a rebate from Mac computers. I stopped in their store in NYC to get help. The young manager was GREAT. He immediately apologized for the problem and had my credit card instantly issued a refund in lieu of the rebate. I have been and will remain a loyal Mac customer because that company, unlike Verizon, treats its customers with respect.

not true. i called and have records of calling on December 27, January 14, January 19, and February 22. These were all in Verizon's records until they suddenly disappeared in March. Verizon can make up anything they choose. I even spoke to one agent in late March who remembered talking with me. but he said he couldn't explain why there was no record. So , please, stop defending Verizon. They have been beyond rude. This is my last post.

| margekennedy wrote: | | The short version: I called Verizon at end of contract to end it. I was offered "Free" phone for staying on. I took the bait. The phone never came, but I was billed for it. I called, and CS promised to cancel as originally requested. Next bill came, again charging me for phone that never came, and cancellation fee for two lines. My bill soared to $850 within two months, including "fines." CS reps were dispicable, one telling me that a name I never heard of had signed for the phone that I didn't receive. When I said I never heard of such a person, this B says, "maybe you cant remember all the men that come and go from your house." This was out of the blue. Verizon turned acct. over to collection agency. Sweetheart there told me I would "eat dirt" before I got out of this bill. I gave up, paid them $800 to keep them from further damaging my credit. These people robbed me. I paid for no service, no phone, and no recourse. Also, I applied for a Verizon Mediation to work this out, hoping for some justice. Months went by and I'd paid the bill when someone finally called about this so-called mediation He informed me that he'd reviewed my case and decided against me. This was mediation? I'm astounded that this company stays in business. I am among a number of people I know who have had absolutely disrespectful treatment at the hands of Verizon. My only revenge, and this was sweet, was choosing the new wireless service for a large company at which I work. I was able to persuade them to switch from Verizon to Sprint, a company we've all been much happier with. At least that's 834 phone contracts Verizon no longer has. |

don't buy a phone online--there are Verizon stores or dealers in every town...this is why I'll buy Mac computers too--I can get them at the Apple store; you pay tax, but you save on shipping and it's true, UPS and all these others will leave the package wherever they have to--there's no guarantee it'll end up in your hands.
