Do you really believe a company the size of VZW is going to risk losing everything over 1 contract? Fedex does not leave the package without a signature period.... So someone at the address signed for it.. It is not like Tmo where they leave with neighbor, etc..only if the party leaves msg to take it elsewhere and that is very, very rare..
Now for the "bait" part.. How long have cell phones been in existance? No one in their right mind would believe they are going to get a phone for free, no contract, nothing... come on lets get real here.. VZW not ONLY makes the person activate the phone either via webiste, or ivr and a copy for 2 yr contract is mailed |
the Fedex policy for the delivery of phones (I'm a Cingular rep now and former blue) is at the drivers discretion to leave the package out of plain sight... if this was unsigned drop the driver has to leave directions to where he hid it (ie behind the flower pot)...if fedex left the package and there was no signaturefedex is responsible for replacing it (at least with cingular/former ATT).. I would well imagine that the policy at verizon was the same...
call Verizon and get the tracking number for said package... input that tracking # at www.fedex.com ... from there you can see if it was signed for...and the signature

elmo,
Sprint may not require Fedex to get a signature but Verizon does, Fedex leaves a note that they attempted delivery, the cust can either pick it up at Fedex or sign and leave instructions otherwise, but they will not just hide is somewhere.. After they attempt to deliver (I think it is 2 times, the package is returned to Verizon, as unable to deliver.. I have never, ever pulled up tracking where that happened..

So, I signed up with verizon wireless and had a billing error on every statement for the 6 months I had them. One bill came for $2500 when they started charging me a minute for every byte of data on my BlackBerry! Unreal!
So I canceled and got charged the early term fee. Since they didnt hold up their end of th bargain, I sued Verizon Wireless in small claims court. Well, seeing as it costs way more to send a lawyer to deal with this, they paid me off to settle. Got my early term fee refunded and the cost of two phones. I kept the phones as well and sold them on ebay!
So, bottom line, Verizon is horrible and has the worst customer service in the business. Don't let them bully you. Pay the $15 filing fee to sue them and they will surly settle...
Cheers!

i do work for vzw, and i'll tell you in just the last quarter of 2006, t-mobile lost over 9 million customers.
verizon gained more than that many.
and as far as customer service. i think that we kiss too many buts, and if your's wasen't kissed. you were talking to the wrong people.

I think it's silly, the way people will complain if the package comes to the shipping address when they aren't available, then gets sent to the FedEx hold center. What's silly is that people will call in and wait through the hold time and escalate about the issue, and their address is maybe a fifteen minute drive from the hold center. Why not take the time and make the drive? Everytime I order a phone I'm never home to receive it, I bite the bullet and pick it up. I've already accepted that I'm not going to be home 100% of the time until the phone arrives, as I'm sure lots of people are in similar shoes. Perhaps it'd be easier to track the package, and make plans for pick up options. I hope somebody calls about this and starts their drive to FedEx, and see what gets resolved first---picking the phone up at the center, or having it re-routed or attempted again the next day.

I had Cingular and got double billed or serious billing errors for 6 + months.
Every time the bill came I would be on the phone for over an hour straightening out the error. Next month same thing, finally contract ended.
Went to Verizon for a YEAR, billing "Perfect" Service "Perfect" Repairs "Great" The way they lock down and take away features of a phone 'SUCK"
AT&T = Great Coverage and Reception , this is based on personal experience. The US GSM standard's are not even close to what they should be though, too much BS going and pockets getting filled at Corporate level.
Verizon = Once again great coverage, only thing I would change with them is phone selection, IHMO it sucks bigtime, and stop modding a perfectly good phone to limit its capabilities will yea.
As far as packages and such Elmo1 said it the best way. And if Sprint chooses NOT to require a signature than thats there choice, but the shipping company is responsible.
I live in Albany NY and would have taken VZW to attorney general before paying 800 dollars. Luckily the Governor is the former attorney general for the state and the new attorney general Cuomo is kicking ass just like the former attorney general.
Regarding VZW kissing butt, oh no IHMO they dont kiss enough, charging 10 dollars to transfer phone numbers from one phone to another WTF kind bs is that , oh we have to pay for the machines. Yeah right, thats part of overhead for retail.
Right now I am out of contract and looking for a PDA, VZW is supposedly getting the pearl "Blackberry"
I will say that in my area, I see MORE professional people in Verizon than AT&T stores
Time will tell on who I go with next, I can say that Sprint does not have a chance, and T-Mobiles coverage area is really bad where I travel too.

Verizon ripped me off too, they lie a lot and try to force you to keep a bad service. Early termination fees are unjust, even with an escape clause this power monkey climbs itself right on top of the lower primate the customer and takes a dump on him. Verizon is unethical they are like a mafia operation, to threaten with bad credit because you no longer like service is the same as beating half to death someone who tries to leave the mafia.
