I have been searching for months now for a free polyphonic ringtone converter.
I got this "PSM play" software from a post in the samsung forum (thanks to Don)

This "PSMPlay" program can convert polyphonic midis to other formats like samsung's .mmf etc and vice versa.
Also someone wanted to know where free bollywood ringtones are available. Here is a link that has the songs in .mmf format. I used the above program to convert to sony Ericson's .mid format.

Am also new to ringtone conversions and I wanted to know how I can get a monophonic ringtone converter that can convert MP3 to mobile phone ringtones.
Is there a ringtone converter that can be used for the many different types of mobile phones.
Pliz also tell me which phones use MIDI, mmf and how you convert from a different phone file to another phone's file format.
I have a big collection of MP3s and wanted to convert them into mobile phone ringtones.
How do I put them on the phones.
Pliz don't get bored with my many questions but I am a newbie and I am very interested to know how.
Thank you and awaiting your response.

Hello shaka,
Sorry that iam replying so late. I donot visit these forums often.
I am a newbie to cellphones too and from what i know, the default format for a polyphonice ringtone is .mid. Sonyericsson uses this format and I believe Nokia does too. But samsung has a .mmf format for polyphonic ringtones. Best way to find out is to transfer a polyphonic ringtone from your phone to your PC and then check the extension of that file to know which format your phone uses. simple!
The PSMPoly program can be used to change from one format to another easily - it has support for many formats.
Also as far as i know and as much as i tried tried, wav/mp3 cannot be converted to midi.
This is because, wav/mp3 are audio formats and midi is just a sequence of keynotes from a musical keyboard.
I tried a couple of those mp3/wav-to-midi converters but they turned out crappy with a lot of skips, wrong sounding tunes.
