I believe there is some stuff located here that will help you get AIM up and running on your Dash. It does seem as if most smartphones are having this trouble believe it or not as it is a very common complaint.

OMG i just got the t-mobile dash like 4 days ago!
the second day i had to switch the battery because the battery wud run out when the day is not even over after i charged it fully overnight. now its better because it at least lasted me for a day and i have one bar left.
NOW the aim is not working for me! I dont know if people with the dash have the same problem but everytime i try to sign on it says
COMMUNICATION ERROR.Please try again or check your settings.
This is sooo aggravating and i have tried multiple times and it does not work. It keeps repeating that same thing ^.
I hope i am not the only one with this problem. I have called t-mobile service and they do not help at all! They said the problem is uknown or something and that engineers are working on it and they do not know when it will be fixed!! So I dunno if i should keep the phone or not. i only have like 7 more days to return it or exchange it for a new one.
Any one that can help will be very much appreciated...THANKS.
I really like this phone but these things are just very aggravating.

you have a full 30 days to return the phone =) and yea aim works when ever it wants to hhaha and i think its cuz you have to buy the data plan. i dont have the data plan and wont get one haha cuz i can go on the internet and everything with out it but when it comes to pic messaging and aim it dosent work so well every thing about the phone is great. batter life go in to the comm manager turn off wifi bluetooth those take up alota power.
