Hi, sorry to ask for help on my first post but im a little stuck here..
I got a 2Gb micro sd memory card for my D900 but it doesnt seem to work. The phone asks to 'format' it then fails, so i sent it back. The guy who sold it to me says he has formated it to fat32 for me and it works fine. He told me i need a firmware update.
How do i do this?
Thanks

Hi JackLB,
you can visit
http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic50482-0-asc-110.html
for a long discussion on firmware upgrades.
you can type *#1234# to see what firmware you have. Actually I am curious which one you have because I also have a samsung d900 and was considering buying a 2gb microsd. It also seems to depend on which brand you have.
So I suggest you go ahead and ask Don, the mod who basically knows everything about this stuff, and don't forget to provide your firmware version and the brand/model of your card.
Take care.

Hi Guys, I also brought the D900 and a 2Gb µSD card. I eventually discovered (lots of trying everything and web searching) the original D900 firmware only supports up to and including 1Gb cards. I eventually had to buy a 1Gb card and that definitely works fine. Everyone is hanging out for a firmware upgrade to recognise >1Gb cards, but I haven't seen proof that such a firmware exists just yet.
PS, Kids, don't try this at home! DIY flashing of firmware is not for the faint hearted, there is an excellent chance of fatally wounding your phone if not done properly!

i've read somewhere that the SanDisk memory cards work the best with the samsung d900 i'm also a proud owner of the d900 i'm also still waiting for firmware which allows me to use >1Gb cards so if anybody finds it drop it in de d900 2Gb cards topic

I got a 1GB Team microSD card when I got my D900 and although it registered with the phone, I couldn't access it.
I spotted a post on another forum regarding the 1GB Sandisk cards so I bought one and it worked first time.
Only trouble is with the connection software, which crashes when I try to transfer files. I have to access the phone like a USB drive and then can transfer files easily and access them from the phone menus.
The official Specs on the Samsung website recommend a 512MB card.
Bit of a noob on the firmware front but I'll keep an eye out for a fix for higher capacity cards.
Firmware:D900XAFG6

I HAVE JUST ORDERED A 2GB SANDISK MICRO SD CARD FOR MY NEW D900, I HAVE JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE CARD MAY NOT BE COMPATABLE WITH THE PHONE I HAVE CHECKED MOST WEBSITES AND MOST PEOPLE SEEM TO HAVE THE FIRMWARE: D900XAFG6 AND HAVENT FOUND ANYTHING ABOVE THIS, I CHECKED THE VERSION ON MY PHONE AND IT IS D900XAFG7! I HOPE THE CARD IS NOW GOING TO BE COMPATABLE SEEING THAT I DISCOVERED THAT ONLY 60% OF D900s ARE COMPATABLE, I WILL LET YOU GUYS KNOW IF IT WORKS WHEN IT ARRIVES, I HOPE IT DOES BECAUSE I HAVE THE LATEST FIRMWARE BUT WE SHALL SEE.

Nope it does not work! DO NOT BUY 2GB CARDS it is just hassle, 1GB will work, THERE IS NO FIRMWARE ANYWHERE THAT WILL ACCEPT 2GB CARDS NOR IS THERE PROOF THAT THERE IS ONE BEING CREATED.

i have a 2gb card on my d900 and it works fine. All I need to figure out now is how to allow more than 30 songs to the playlist on the mp3 player.
