I posted this on another board but this discussion seems close to my problem:
Help! I have been to level 2 help from Samsung (level 3 was closed) and have stumped verizon tech support with this one.
I bought a new Samsng u-540 phone so I can listen to mp3s on it. I bought a 2GB card and the mobilmate SanDisk card reader (also purchased at VZ store).
I have mp3 files on my computer from multiple sources, some from licenced CD's I have, other songs that were downloaded from the original Napster and some I have recently downloaded from ESnips. They all will play on the mp3 player I have. I have checked that they are all in the mp3 format.
The problem I am having is that I can put the songs on the card, but when I put the card in the phone it will only load/see the ESnips songs. However when I remove the card itself and put it back into the computer (or the other computer I have) ALL the the songs show up and will play!
I have tried reformatting the card a few times. I also have changed the format from FAT to FAT32 (FAT 32 wouldn't play any songs). I have even tried ripping a song directly from the CD right to the card (again, shows on the card but not on the phone).
I already sent the rebate in so VZ won't let me exchange the phone for another model and the tech supports at Samsung & Verizon are stumped.
So, who out there is better than VZ and Samsung tech support? I would GREATLY appreciate any help with this problem.Thx

I have the lg vx8300 and I'm not a huge fan of this phone for a few reasons.but I won't list them here. Anywaaaaay.I have been through four of these phones and the first one that I had was on version 1 of the firmware and the three others have been version four. Versions 2 and 3 I know nothing about, sorry!
Version 1 was extremely easy to hack and so I made a few custom ringers for it because there was no way that I wanted to give Verizon $3 for a ringtone. I use a program called BitPim and it works pretty good for sending things via Bluetooth. Version 4 is messy. Verizon likes to mess with you and make sure that you have no other option other than to buy their stuff if you have no computer skills, unfortunately. (P.S. I'm not saying that anyone is dumb, I'm just saying that Verizon is trying to make money, which is smart, however, sneaky.). BitPim used to clear this up for me in a snap in Version 1 with the hidden 000000 menu and now it doesn't. However, if you read further, I fixed this somehow.
Oh, I guess I should add that I'm a Mac user and every day I curse Verizon because they are Windows based so I can't use that music player without buying a microsd card, which I'm kind of on the fence about. But really, I just hack my phone for ringers, I don't need my phone to be an iPod; I already have one of those! So, I don't need the extra space for music.
Tonight, I was messing with the hidden menu on the phone that you access by pressing menu plus 000000 and I found that either I accessed A) by unlocking some bluetooth preferences or B) by updating BitPim. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was by messing with the menus, but for the life of me I cant remember what I was pressing. All I know is that it was set to be recognized by USB and not by bluetooth and I wanted it to be recognized by bluetooth, so I changed that and now it works just fine in Bitpim. Maybe it was a combo of both, anywho, now it works and I am thrilled.

This sounds like a problem with your phone. To me, it sounds like you've been doing everything right with the sd card. Do you know what version of the software that you're running? That could be a possible problem.
