The way I see it is that tmobile uk (well, europe in general) has a much more developed cellular network when you look at the technology each carrier has. thus, the phones appear to be awsome compared to some of the phones we get in the us where the technology would be incompatable. And don't forget, tmobile uk and tmobile usa are 2 different companies.

Supposedly they say the US doesn't have a big enough market for any carrier to make the push to 3g yet. I've read a bunch of things that say a very very very small percent of the market wants high speed wireless features from a wireless phone provider and the high cost of the devices that go with it. So that's why we don't get the neat phones and cool features the tech savy people like.

Agreed. My primary reason for a sk3 was edge data. When a 3g version comes out (if it ever does) I can see my self getting 1 quickly or switching to another device.

Also keep in mind that they usualy have more use for a high internet connection on their handsets based on their market. Also Europe i understands is one of their biggest markets so they might be testing out the cool gadgets out there before coming out with our own version out there.
