Is there any way to change the ringtone for text messages on the 8500?

Go to Settings and Tools> Sounds Settings> Alert Sounds> TXT Msg> Tone.
Change it to whatever you want it to be.

i do not have that menu option....i can change the rington for the text messages...but can only use the factory installed ones...is there anyway to use my downloaded ringtones for the text?

Common there must be a way or what a stupid phone. Kinda wishing i got the lg 8300 instead now.

Yes, you can use downloaded ringtones for text messages. I have one myself. Any ringtone you can use for a phone call you can use for a text message.

Then why wont it let me scroll over to the downloaded ring tones under text message ringer settings? it only shows the factory installed ringtones and will NOT let me switch to anything else.......do i need a update or something?

Do you have Verizon? It may be that your phone service provider blocked that option.

...no i go through telus mobility...its the only provider which i get service with out where i live.

just to let you know.your not the only one with that problem.i have that one too. telus is a bit of a dink that way. . um. is there anything i can do phone to phone with my bluetooth? . i have friends that can transfer files.but mine doesnt do that.

eyyy i have the same problem.i cant choose another type of message tone other than the ones that came with it when i purchased the phone which are " Tone 1Tone 2 Tone 3 and Tone 4" do you know how to choose a message tone from the ringtones folder?.i just got my chocolate tg800 and if you can help me with this problem please email me at kayers_007ners@yahoo
