I'm looking around for Candy bar type phones I am currently with Tmobile. I liked the Samsung Plum but its too long for me. I was looking on ebay at the Motorola slvr and the specifications for a lot of them say Carrier: Tmobile. Does tmobile really support these phones if I just switch my sim card into one i bought?
Thanks

You can use it with T-Mobile if it's unlocked... but you can't use the iTunes features etc. that it is advertised with Cingular (I think that's who has it) since those aren't supported by the network. If you buy one also, any warranty issues would go through Motorola as well instead of through T-Mobile.

Just get a phone that supports mp3's and has expandable memory (the SLVR may?). Then you don't even need to use iTunes, you can just copy them over from your computer and listen to them. Not quite as easy as downloading them from iTunes directly to the phone, but you also don't have to pay to put them on the phone from your computer
I have the Samsung T809, essentially the same as the current T629 and I love it. Small enough, slides up to show the keypad, plays mp3, video, expandable memory, great camera. I don't know if you're stuck on the 509 Plum, but I would consider the 629 if you want a compact phone that isn't a flip.

If the Slvr supports mp3's and i can put them on my phone at no cost thats fine I don't need itunes then. But would anyone know of anything other service i can lose form the Slvr by putting my Tmobile simcard in there? Thanks (thank you Firehawk for your help, i will look into the sliders)

I don't know the 'features' of the SLVR beyond the basics, so if it supports mp3's being added by a usb cable or such you should be fine. I know they can send you over the air updates for T-Zones and MMS (Picture messages) settings. So if you just like the phone for the style and aren't worried about having to go through Motorola for warranty issues (if any come up) than go for it. Just make sure it is sim unlocked!
Glad to help

You should also have in mind that since the phone is not an actual T-Mobile handset, is not guaranteed that the MMS or SMS features will work.

When I worked there I did a few SLVR over air configs and all of them worked fine for T-Zones & MMS when it first came out so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a problem now

They usually have the configuration for most handsets. I work there.

Well Im not really one to use the internet on the phone, if I download something i do it from My Tmobile on the site. As long as the phone allows me to have music transfered to it, has the camera, the video, the speaker phone its all good. It looks very nice too and its unlocked sim so I should be fine. Thanks for the help!
