yeah. many, many people here hate cingular, and you shoulda heard what people were saying at the time of the merger. it's extremely hard to get fired from this place, 'cause they have a hard time retaining people.
and anyway, we offer helpful info here, right?

they might not fire him but they do whats called a force quit, as long as hes knocking cingular he wont move up in the company, ever possision he applies for he will get turned down

Just so you know even though it was excessive off network usage my phone always said Cingular on it. Never once said it was roaming on another tower.
Also an update...
They told me to pay it and they will reimburse me... Well that was a scam luckily I didn't pay it. They have been giving me the run around saying they sent it to the manager the manager was with it for a few weeks and then denied it. After three representatives said that I would not have to pay the equipment fee from wirefly and just a week ago one said that either Cingular will pay it or they will talk to Wirefly and have them wave the fee. Now I am waiting for the manager to call me... I will call everyday and I promise if they screw me over I will cost them more money than they ever ripped off from me.
They have already lied and went back on their word I will be talking to a lawyer.
By the way the coverage map is to estimate coverage area to imply service not to limit the networks range. There was no way for me know this this was an off network area. I signed up on a faulty map. So the fact that I signed up for Cingular based on the coverage map and was cancelled because of off network makes Cingular and Wirefly still liable for breaching the contract, not me. I have lawyers very interested in their sales tactics and will be calling the attorney generals office. They knew that making 500 dollars off of me by cancelling service was more beneficial than keeping me as a customer in a high rate area. There is a word for that... Fraud comes to mind. Low life Wirefly/InPhonics and Cingular suck in my opinion. You should read the demanding and threatening e-mails WireFly/InPhonics have sent me.

I will never spend another dime with Cingular. My recent experience leads me to believe all the service people with Cingular will lie to get your money. So I believe the there is now help from them. Infact I think Cingular takes great pride in taking every dime they can. I had Cingular over 5 years (previously used AT&T) and paid the bill right on time. Problem was I did not use the service, so I went to a store to get a pay as you go. 1) They sold me a SIM card I did not need ($32 gone) 2) My current phone is locked -- Cingular said they would try to get the code -- not -- I find out from someone else you don't need a code to unlock. 3) I bought a cheap phone and the person activating add this phone to my old account -- more money gone -- can't use the new $10. I she laughs on the phone the other Cingular person cheated me.

the difference being atleast Verizon lets you know when you are roaming!! Cingular doesnt even let you know... No indication on the phone, and coverage maps that are "not accurate" according to cingular fine print.
Honestly, can someone please tell me how the hell we are supposed to know if were roaming?? do they just expect us to make our calls and hope and pray we dont get a notice saying "oh sorry, youve been disconnected for roaming too much, bye"?!
This is so shady its seriously unbelievable. I cant believe something hasnt been done yet...

I've been living in Alaska for 6 years now without a cell phone. I was looking at Cingular's coverage map yesturday and the parts of Alaska that are covered are not part of Cingular's network. The problem is that you have to zoom in on the map before it displays what is and is not covered by Cingular.
I was reading on another forum about someone who moved to Alaska in May 06 and didn't have any problems. But as of Dec 28 Cingular phones no lnger work in Alaska as they are no longer paying to use the towers. Cingular even informed them ahead of time that their service would be stopped. I haven't investigated this very much though and can't vouch for its validity.

Yep the sorry cingular people got me also with the off net work minutes bullsugar. Funny that it wasn't a problem until my son started using alot of mobile to mobile minutes. The fellow I was talking to said the rule had always been in the contracts, I asked why I was sold the plan sense the sales man put in my postal code and new exactly where I live and have lived for 10 yrs. The response I got was silence for about 15 seconds, that told me I was right in thinking they were definately getting to me. I wonder if there are enough of these cases for a group law suit?

Thats odd that the gentleman said you would when you were off net work because you're phone would not say cingular..... Mine said cingular until they came up with the off net work crap, and my brother in law lives 1/4 mile from me and when he and my sister in law come to visit there phones say cingular. Could one of the cingular reps out there please explain that.

When you're roaming on a non cingular tower your phone will more than likely not say cingular but whatever tower you're on, for instance I have a house in clearlake CA, when I go up there my phone displays Edge Wireless, which has roaming agreements with cingular, I believe they're actually a subsidiary of some kind, so if I were to live there all the time, cingular would have a problem with that and would probably send me a letter telling me my service might get cut off. Now some of the older phones read the Network text off of the phone's simcard, the newer ones read off of the tower. When its reading off the tower is when you'll get a non cingular display.
