If I were to lose my RAZR (Cingular provider) and someone found it and took out my SIM card and replaced it with theirs, would my phone be trackable? I hope this isn't a silly question, I lost my cell phone one time a while back and always wondered if someone found it and then started using it with their own SIM card. Is this possible?
Thanks

So if it is possible, would there be any way to 'trace' the phone, or is a phone only 'traceable' by it's SIM card. Sorry, just always been curious about this.

how in the world would motorola have the ability to track the phone? i don't think its possiable. the small chance that the guy/gal who stole your phone, called us and gave the imei for insurance purposes (provided they did that before the nov13), we would be able to track the phone on our billing system, provided that it is being used with cingular.

i agree with justin...in the UK they have an IMEI tracker to keep a list of lost/stolen phones (like our ESN list) but that's as close as it would come.

in the dept we work in there is a system that can see sims and imei's as to what sim is in what phone. if the implement the system further they could build a database of stolen phones into it but at this time no you can use any phone in europe and some parts gsm handsets do have an international directory of stolen imei's (the serial number of the phone no the sim card)

Only traceable Razr phones are the V3i and the V3r, as I recall the V3c does not have the technology to do so - even if it did, it would have to be on to work
