I haven't seen any discussion about creating a playlist for my MP3's. Is it so easy that I overlooked something? Can someone please offer any advice on how I go about this?

A lot is left out of the instruction booklet!
To create a playlist:
Get It Now->1.Get Tunes & Tones->3.My Music->2.Playlists->Options button (-) on keypad->give the playlist a name->which will bring you back to Playlists; hit the options button again and choose "4. Add Songs to Playlist"->will take you to All Songs; you have to mark each song for that list and then press Done; voila!

You can also hit the Music button on the side of the phone, scroll left / right to "Playlists" and click Options > Create. Then with that playlist selected, select Options > Add Songs.
