#1.get insurance on every phone that you purchase that retails for over $200.
#2.Verizon now prorates ETF's $5 per month of service, which can lessen the pain somewhat.
#3.Take my word for it.try Ebay. A veritable gold mine of used/almost new phones.

I lvoe customers who said they will cancel, pay the ETF, and then resign up - but guess what, we know you do! And guess what? when doing that, it usually ends up in you having to pay a deposit. Does that sound good? And even sometimes, in some circumstances, you cannot resign up in 90 days!
So, if you try to scam a phone company in doing that, thinking it's the "easy way out" - it can come back to bite your hiney

I still believe phone upgrades should be easier for loyal customers. Adding a full year (sometimes 2 years) to your contract and only being eligible once within that year or once within those 2 years is just unacceptable.
Those phones cost nowhere near $250-500 to make. It's obsurd that paying customers are forced to pay that everytime they want a new phone. I think a flat rate of 6 month upgrades would suffice. It'd be a good marketing campaign IMO.

I've got to see if I can get some actual wholesale prices on phones---what the manufacturer sell us phones for. I have limited access here at work but I'll try to research before monday.
TWE, all you need to do is look at the prepaid world and the MetroPCS goofs, where RAZR phones are sold for $200 apiece and you'll get close to what these phones are worth.
6 months is so unrealistic it borders on the ridiculous, to be honest.

in no other market is new equipment expexted as much as it is in wireless. ppl are unwilling to keep phones the length of the contract and are rarely willing to accept fault for breakage and failure. if you abuse your car who gives you a new one below cost if you see a new tv you like does the cable company help you get it? no no no remember ppl PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY. Why do we feel cell companies should give us new phones you by a service the phone only ficalitates it. find another service industry where you get free new and best equip before any of you blowhards mention cable or dish remember with cable you rent box and pay for damage of if you dont return it and with dish if you dont keep for a certin time you will pay for equip

I tire of the same thing easily. I LIKE having the luxury of upgrading my phone twice a year. More if I can afford it!
If they allow 1 year upgrades every 12 months why is it so far-fetched for them to make 6 month upgrades? I'm not saying offer the phones for free, but 25 to 50% off for current members would be nice.
They could even make it so only customers who have had no late payments or overages within X amount of months qualify.

| ksankey wrote: | I agree with the idea after the intial two years of being a customer there should be no more contract binding you to this company. I'd rather pay full price for a phone then to get one of their recondition phones anyways. Please. you pay for your phone many times over. T-Mobile is not in business to give anything away! Let's be real these phones are not costing hundreds of $$$ to make. I would have no problem paying this price if they were made in the US giving American a fair paying job.
I'm not sure people are always trying to get out of something they need to pay for as in my case yes, I thought when re signing my contract to get a cheaper phone I was being given an instant discount like every other time I've done this. After phones arrive and I throw away the boxes. Come to find out this was a rebate deal.
When do I find this out? When the bill comes- I pay my bill minus the new phone charges till I can figure this thing out. Mind you I've been a T-Mobile customer for 4 years. Have always paid my bill on time, in full! Let me quote one of TMobile reps as calling me an "excellent customer". Of course after many phone calls and hours of talking to many people- yeap you guessed it just pay the money nothing anyone can do. Too bad, so sad. Well remember I have not paid for those phone charges on my last bill and exactly 30 days later they shut off my service on an "excellent customer".
I've given t-mobile over $4,000 in the last 4 years and this is how you are treated in the end. Yeap, pay up NOW! or you will be in breech of the contract and owe $200 per phone. Unbelivable-it wasn't like I was some sort of dead beat that has had a problem with bill paying and I was treated like crap. Oh if I want my service restored pay the bill! Just a note the check was in the mail my current bill was not due yet.
T-Mobile you suck- and yes I will make it my personal mission to tell anyone and everyone what crappy, crappy customer service they have.
Talking to these jokers can be quite amusing. One rep, Embony rep#412413 told me tmobile does not have a corporate office. I informed her, for her information that I'm not THAT stupid and gave her the corporate office address and the CEO's name. Just so she doesn't have to lie to customers the next time she is asked this question.
Another bone to pick is why doesn't tmobile state your contract dates on your account on the web? One rep Craig rep#0458214 told me it's like selling a house. You would not want to advertise the bad points. What?
I've asked tmobile for a copy of MY contract with dates, which they are unable to provide. Strange.
And they should quit using your SS# for ID purposes. This should cease immediately!
Again DO NOT get involved with this company. Even check out the CEO see what he is about, you might not want to sign up! I wish I had done my research before becoming a long term customer. In the future I will be very careful on where my money is being spent. Say no to T-Mobile and never shop at Walmart! Corporate America sucks! Watch the new geez I wish i could get 250 million when I leave my job like the Home Depot CEO. What a deal - who do you think is paying this bill? |
I have to agree with this post. My Fiance is being charged a fee of $200 when she never agreed to a 2 year contract with T-Mobile. The Rep Steve committed fraud by entering her info into the IVR while she was on hold.

Oh sure I'm sure he just did it to bother her. Why in the heck would any customer service rep do that.there's nothing in it for him?
