Nope the message "Flex Error: Phone Subsidy-Locked" is nothing to do with locked or otherwise - it is removed using the steps I posted

Just found out that you can call cingular and request unlock code...after all the trouble of trying to unlock it. They will email me the unlock code in 3-5 days, but the problem is that after messing around with it, I think I might have locked the process of being able to enter the "unlock code":
When you put in another carrier's SIM, it's supposed to ask you to punch in the code, but if you type in the wrong codes a couple of times, it gives the msg ---> "Contact your service provider"
Does that mean I can't eneter the "unlock code" in anymore?
Do I have to bring my phone to them (cingular)?
If anyone wants the code when it comes, email me.
Thanks

Thanks,
So after leaving the phone displaying the "Contact your service provider" msg for 30-40mins - it will return to the "enter unlock code..." msg or something like that?

I found out that if you try to enter the unlock code incorrectly 5 times, the phone will be permanently locked to that carrier. So I guess that is what I did with the v220 Motorola. You can request unlocking instructions + code from them at anytime...
