I've had my upgraded phone for approx. 6 months, and am slightly sick of it (I don't think I made the best purchase!). Since I cannot upgrade the standard grade for another year or so, the only feasible way of "upgrading" is buying an unlocked phone from ebay. I have a few questions about it.
1. When I receive my unlocked phone from ebay, do I just put in my SIM card and turn on?
2. I have features on my older phone. Do those transfer over to the unlocked phone?
3. Is there going to be any withdrawals from myself except for the higher price paid?

I just realized how ambiguous that question was. Things such as ringtones, games, messaging packages, etc. I'm guessing not, but it is always worth asking.

Thanks.
What about things such as MMS? Can I add this separately? Does this cell have to be cingular (my current service provider) for this to work?

the mms/wap settings are a sticky. you should beable to put them in manually to an unlocked phone to activate the features.

As far as ringtones and wallpapers, if your old phone and new phone both have bluetooth, it'll transfer easily, the mms, and internet settings are on here, so just enter them manually it should be easy depending on the phone, what phone are you planning to get?

I know I'm dredging up an old post again, but I was wondering will things like text messaging, picture messaging, etc. work with an unlocked phone? (ie: let's say I have a KG810, which Cingular doesn't offer).

Ok the thing with the 810 is that its a triband, so it will work with cingular, but certain towers running on the 850 MHZ band won't work with this phone, so basicaly you can use only Cingular towers, not the att towers however when you are in cingular coverage, your text will work, but your picture messaging will need to be setup in the Websessions option on the phone to work. Same goes with internet browsing.

Do you know how I can find out what "towers" are in my area?
I just recently purchased an unlocked KG810 off of eBay, and all I seem to be reading about are bad things about how this phone doesn't work with Cingular.
