Ohhhh I'm sooo mad @ verizon right now...
Well I did my research and decided to get the lg vx8300!!!
Seems great till I get it and 1st thing I do is: menu-0-000000-11 (music setting
Now it just says not availiable!!!
I saw before buying it you had to tell it mp3's (cause Vcast profit would hurt if you did your own mp3).....
Now they changed it so you cant do MP3 @ all!!!
I hope I'm not over-reacting, maybe there's a way to workaround it...
If not I'm dropping my network...
(all because they are soooo greedy they wont even let you do mp3 so vcast makes more $$$)

Same here. I signed up for these boards when a search of the issue brought up another thread, where the workaround was still reported good as of August. I just replied there a while ago. I guess they plugged up the MP3 fix in the latest firmware. How about some loud complaining against Verizon? If I hadn't gotten this phone nearly free, it would be going back to the store tomorrow. My condolences to anyone who spent $300 for it.

I got the 8300 last week, it has ERI(I'm assuming that that's what firmware is) version 4 and mp3's (at least the one I e-mail to my phone) work just fine, you don't have to enable them. if you have a lesser version of ERI you might considering updating your phone (*228) and then see if you can get them to play. if you already have version 4(maybe 3 also I can't remember) they should work without having to enable anything.

I use the V Cast Music Essentials Kit (Media Player) for syncing my tunes to my phone. Everything works just fine. Have a ton of CD's on my phone.

Thank you. I will give this a try once I get the needed peripherals for connection to my PC.

Yes, MP3s work without a hitch, and without any need to enable the format. Thanks again for your help.

This is the way I get my music onto my memory card.
1. Format card in Phone, by going to Settings & Tools menu, option 8, Memory, Option 3, Card Memory, select options, with the right soft key, select 1, Format card, when that is done transfer the card to your card reader on your pc.
2. Open windows explorer, it should recognize your card reader as a drive. When you open that drive, it will show your card directory.
3. In windows explorer open the folder on your pc where your music files are located, right click on one of the music files and from that menu select "open with", select Windows Media Player, all your mp3 files will change to Windows Media files. No need to go through and convert them.
4. Then I just select the songs I want, if you hold down the control key while selecting songs, you can choose the ones you want. While they are highlighted, right click and drag to your card to the my_music folder, from that menu select "copy here", all your music will be copied to your card and the original music files will stay on your pc. I have copied 90 songs at once with no problem.
I have also used this same procedure to copy pictures and video.
I changed the settings on my phone to save to the memory card automatically. The steps to do this are: Go to settings & tools, option 8, Memory, option 1, save options, select from PIX, Flix or Sounds, Then select card memory, select OK.
I use MIDI files for my ringtones, I have found tons of free MIDI files online. I use Bitpim and data cable to transfer the MIDI files from my computer to my phone. You can copy them directly to the ringtones folder.

i managed to convert mp3 using "free mp3 wma converter" however once on the micro sd card and in my phone it would play, but only the songs i had put on the phone initially. I have erased all data on my card including video i put on it with "free mpg to 3pg converter". I load new songs onto the card but to no avail. It will only play the songs i originally put on the card. Anybody have any insight? I would be very appreciative
