It's funny seeing as SE does not provide unlock codes. So - I know you're lying about that because only the service providers have the code. kthnx.
Oh, and locking phones is 100% legal - ruled by the US copyright office themselves.
Oh, and remember this is a capitalist country, mind you a highly capitalist country, so locking phones means more money to carriers, smart for the carriers because most people don't know what unlocking is, unfortunate for those who do, or fortunate if they know how to get into the modding communities

Truthfully im a little unclear on what locked and unlocked phones are. Im thinking about getting the w810i and i have been hearing a lot of business about locked and unlocked phones. And quad band and Edge and stuff like this. Im trying to do my research to figure out if having these things on my phone would be a good idea. But if there is someone here with time a the knowledge please regale me. Thanks
Unlocked: The phone is not "locked' to a specific carrier, IE, you buy a phone from cingular and a t-mobile sim won't work unless its unlocked. and Vice versa, Quad Band just means that you can use it anywhere in the world where there is a GSM network, just pop in the sim card and go, there are 4 bands that are used 850,900,1800 and 1900 a quad band can use all of those networks, Edge is a wireless internet connection, right now, there's 3 connections(at least here in the states I hear elsewhere there's 3.5 and 4g) GPRS(Slow) Edge(Slightly Faster), and 3g (like dsl type speed)
anything else?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. So, should i assume if a cell phone has quad band that it should have great reception. Does the Quad band thing have anything to do with the carrier and the reception that the phone receives? I like all the features that the w810i has but i wanted to know if it will preform exceptional well simply as a phone to make and receive calls.
I currently have verizon and im happy with the service but i hate the fact that im locked in. I see all these wonderful phones and i wish i could simply switch my phone, keep the same number and still have all my contacts and not have to switch services. This is why i think im going to switch to Cingular Wireless.
Quad band is a term refering to GSM networks only Verizon uses CDMA(No Sim Card) you should switch they're the same price and the same minutes, but we have rollover and better coverage
Also quadband just means you can use all networks, it doesn't affect receptio.

Yea i think Cingular is going to be the move for me. I wonder why verizon doesn't want to use Sim Card. Do you really think you have better coverage? I always thought that verizon had the best coverage with all those network commercials LOL. No but seriously have you used both Verizon and Cingular and if so tell me we which one you had better reception with.
