I bought an "unlocked" Motorola V180 cell phone from Cellular Blowout. When I insert a Tmobile SIMM chip in the phone and turn it on, a Cingular screen appears. I called Cellular Blowout and Cingular and they said too bad.
How can I reflash the phone to get rid of the Cingular software? I need the phone totally unlocked, so I can use it for travel abroad.

If it works with the TMobile SIM then it is unlocked - branding is different but does not affect ability to use other SIM cards

The Cingular screen appears, but the TMobile chip does not work.

Does it ask for a subsidy code?

When I put the Tmobile chip in and turn it on, I get a Hello Moto screen, then a Cingular screen, then my phone # is xxx xxx xxxx, then "searching for network". It never finds a network. The cell phone does not receive calls, and I can't dial out.

Its not locked but it may be a hardware problem if the SIM card works fin in other phones and in the same area

My Tmobile account is still active. I use this Tmobile SIMM chip everyday in my Motorola RAZ cell.

Sounds like its probably a hardware fault - most likely the internal antenna is loose - return it if possible

It has been too long since I bought it. Is there any way I can fix the antenna myself? Or is there some other repair service I can send it to?
