hi,
my newly bought E61 cannot connect to my desktop PC.
Tried everything: newest PC suite version; the version that comes on the E61 CD; tried removing manually all previous versions of USB Cable drivers (had a DKU2 nokia 6650 that worked ok with the PC).... tried restarting, the usual plug & pray technics, but to no avail.....
Any ideas how to move on with this ?
(to make things worse: I cannot copy my huge contact/SMS/archive database from my old 6650 to the E61 using neither bluetooth (both in Data Transfer mode and in Phone Coupling mode the bluetooth disconnects itself immediately????), nor in Infrared, as the E61 reports back that the IR function is not supported when coming from the NOKIA 6650 ??
I am desperate - pls. help
THANKS !
Alex

I assume you are using Windows XP. Have you applied Service Pack 2?

Or just to go the "stupid" way: have you looked at your phone when it is connected?
It asks you which kind of data connection you wish (PC Suite, file transfer (it works like a card reader were you can easily access the memory card) and ip passthrough (use the internet of your computer with it)

Bjoern, yes, the phone reports these 3 options, but when I select
"PC Suite" the "connecting" icon on the PC just goes on forever,
and I cannot connect.
What pisses me off is that I cannot transfer my files from my old
6650 neither thru Bluetooth (not supported between 6650 and S60-platform models obviously), nor Infrared (--""--).
Besides, I cannot seem to be able to use the WiFi function, as the
settings do not seem to apply to our local network.
Horror.

Remove/uninstall all nokia program first (PC Suite, etc.). Then go to "Add or Remove Programs" from Control Panel and remove :
Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
PC Connectivity Solution
Finally, restart your pc & reinstalled the previously uninstalled program
Good luck
