I bought a new N80 and i have few questions about the phone that i can't find in the manual. Here thay are:

-When i'm installing a game or an application, the phone keeps on telling me that the installation is not supported. What does that mean? It's not happening all the time though.

-N80's specs said that it can handle animated wallpapers. How can i do that? I can't find it in the settings.

-N80's package comes with headset adapter so you can connect the universal 3.5mm headphones. The problem is i don't know how to use it. I can't find it in the manual.

-I know that N80's battery life is not that good. Does anyone know some tips or tricks to prolong the battery life aside from using the phone memory on the messages?

-Finally, does anyone know where to find freeware for the N80?

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

a) be sure you're installing software which is for S60 3rd Edition, old software for S60 1st and 2nd Edition is not supported.

b) edit the current theme in the themes settings. You can change the wallpaper there.

c) Connect the the adapter to the phone, connect a normal headphone to the adapter (was this question really serious?!)

d)
-deactivate WiFi search
-close every application properly (press and hold the menu button to access the taskmanager to see which applications are running in the background. Highlight an application and press "c" to quite the application)
-install applications in the internal memory
-deactivate stupid applications like anti virus software or a screensaver application - they don't need to run the whole time
deactivate bluetooth
-if you don't use 3G/UMTS set the network to "GSM only"
-set package data to "when needed"

e) freeware can be found at www.my-symbian.com

I tried changing the wallpaper with an animated picture but when i look at the main screen, the animated picture wasn't animating at all.

I can insert the other end of the headset adapter on the phone's charger hole, but the other end of the adapter has a pin in the middle so i cannot put a normal headphone on it coz it won't fit.

Dude, that's no adapter for a headset, that's the adapter you put on old chargers so they will fit for the new, smaller charger hole of the phone...

I can help you more in a few days when my E61 is back from repairs...

Just rechecked with my E61... animated gifs won't work as wallpaper... ok, you can set them, but they won't be animated, only the first frame will be shown.

Yeah that's true. I asked Nokia and they said that gif files are supported by the phone but won't animate when set as a wallpaper.

Only some newer phones, mostly S40, e.g. 6131 or 6020 support animated wallpapers.
