I understand the phone only has about 52mb of memory so I went out and bought the 512mb microSD disk. Well, I can upload songs fine to the disk but when I put the card into the phone the only option I have is to transfer the songs TO the phone. Well, I can't transfer all the songs on there because of the 52mb internal memory on the phone. It says insufficent amount of memory. Is there a way to play the songs straight from the card? I hear about all these people that have hundreds of songs on their phone but I can only manage to get about 15, and that's WITH the 512mb card.
Any suggestions?

i saw a thread here back in september regarding putting music onto the sd cards for the chocolate vx8500, so if you searched back a few pages i'm sure its still there .......from what i remember you have to format the card first in the phone, then use a usb reader/writer to drag drop the mp3's onto the sd card from your puter and voila. I just ordered a micro sd and should arrive in about a week.

When doing this, do you need to use the "Sync" feature in Windows Media PLayer, or is there a way to format the card in the phone and then use a Micro SD -> SD adapter to broswe the card as a removable volume and drag-and-drop files on the PC? I ask because I loathe Windows Media Player and would rather just use Windows Explorer to do my own file transfer right to the card if possible).
When formatting the card in the phone, does the phone create any neded directories/subdirectories needed for the phone to recognize the correct file location?
Thanks!

You can format the card in the phone. The Micro SD cards come with a SD adapter so you can use it in a card reader on your PC.
Near as I can tell, all formatting the card in the phone does is create the proper directories for storing files. Once you've got the directories setup, you can just copy the files directly from your PC to the card.

15 songs max? Sounds like you are storing on the internal memory whether you know it or not. Put the card in the phone and let the phone format it. Take the card out and put it into a card reader. Copy or drag your mp3 songs onto the card. Put the card back into the phone and enjoy the music!

I recommend having the usb cord, and the memory card (who wants to use the phone's tiny memory?) And inserting the card first, formatting the card with the phone, then leaving the card in. Then use the usb to transfer and from WMP 10.0 you can set the sync to direct to the phone or the memory card, once on the phone the My Music list should display the music on the card that was synced. Yes, formatting the card will delete all the information, and if the phone won't recognize the card, after formatting, keep the card in and power cycle or hard reboot the phone (remove battery while phone is still on, wait few seconds and put back, power up).

Oh, and I didn't mention, but the Chocolate phones can hold only up to 1000 songs, not by space but space for names. And names can't have characters like _ or # in them. Just alphanumeric.
