I worked in the sales related dept's and I think cingular as a whole should have all of it for the same price they call the sales channel over the phone wanting the online price and most people don't understand.. yes less overhead so website can be cheaper.. they should just make it the same across the board as much as they can definatly shop around.. but I don't suggest buying from any 3rd party vender there is a reason why their cheap if you need help with your device from cingular etc. they have less ability to help you.
example a cingular cor store will replace your charger that came with your phone if it just fails vs. bob's wireless world (just example no offense to any such company that might have that name) the independent retailer might not be able to help you vs. cingular they can replace that accessory for you no cost.
example 2 you buy a nicely priced phone at the independent store or online and it fails to work in first 30 days.. have you ever tried calling one of those online vendors on the phone to arrange for an exchange or for help??????? and the store you went to does't have any like models of that particular phone they won't exchange it for you.

That's not always true, if they're an authorized dealer you should have no problem exchanging items for phones for no price.
As for phone exchanges, if there's more than one store, they can usually transfer the phones.

Ok so i just got my upgrade in the mail. i started charging it and there is a big black bar across the outside lcd. it runs directly over the signal and battery meters and just stays black. can i get a replacement at the store? i'm a little annoyed at this point and dont want to wait for customer service to ship me a replacement (Which could end up to be refurbished).
and does anyone know if i can change my mind and upgrade to a different phone entirely? i mean give them back my razr v3i and exchange it for a pearl. they're the same price

within 30 days you can do an exchange at the store with everything you got in the mail and a proof of purchase. the store's prices may differ, but they should be able to do a like exchange. if the pearl's more, you'll pay the difference.

If a store is a true authorized retailer, they have to abide by the same exchange policies as a COR would - all accessories must be exchanged in the store you bought them at, etc etc. (not exactly a good example, but you get what I mean)

no... not at all...policies can be wide and ranging
lets say you get a phone headset from Bob & Dougs wireless store and the next day you decide you dont need it... (buyers remorse return)...and you try to return it to a company owned store...Cingular has no record of purchase... because the stock came from Bob & Dougs Wireless and they can have their own policy (can be anything from almost the same policy to under warranty until the other side of the door)
the key is the point of sale...if you buy something at a cingular store (company owned) you can return it to a company owned store... its cingular stock

Exactly, Authorized retailers have their own stock that they purchase, and its in their sales system, however cingular uses POS to setup accounts, then it is rung up in the AD's sales then the contracts are confirmed between cingular and the AD.

well I get calls all day (warranty dept) where the store they bought the phone at won't replace the accessory that came with the phone.. and why does everyone get mad when we tell them to contact the manufactuer of the products ie nokia motorola etc. ? yeah we can't help you if you bought it at bob's wireless store for example if it's like 1 store where they can't send stock etc.
