sry i'm new to this place.
yesterday marked the 18th month in my 2 year contract with cingular. we have a famillytalk plan. i was interested in upgrading my razr v3 (developing an odd keypad smell) to a v3i where my phone is the primary # on the acct. the rep in the store told me that although it's normally 349, he would sell it to me for 319. but when i go online, i can get it through the cingular website for 199! is there something fishy going on here? should i try another store? or ebay?
i am eligible for an upgrade right? i'm just so confused...

he probably didn't look up your account, and if he did, you're not eligible for an upgrade, 349 is the retail

With all due respect to the Cingular store reps and CSRs here, I've found that information can vary somewhat between different stores and people you talk to. In my experience, I've been elgible for an upgrade after 18 months into every contract I've been in. Check with another rep or call the main Cingular number and talk to a CSR there. You should be elgible for that upgrade.

Usually yes, in the 18th month you're eligable for an upgrade, but if you have an abundace of suspensions or late payments, then they may hold it back until the two years is up, you must remember authorized dealers sometimes have different promotions than cingular, usually they're better discounts.

Yeah, if you have like 3 or more suspends for non payment in a period of time, you might nto be qualified for that upgrade - and I did not know this until I had this issue come up.
But if you're lucky, you might get a nice rep who can make the exception upgrade - it'd be a 1 yr discount for a new 2 yr contract...

also internet pricing is generally always cheaper then stores or what cust serv has to offer. the main reason behind that is because its a self service option when you order online so reps don't collect commission and customer serv doesn't have to answer calls.. something along those lines is why its cheaper
