Now, most dealers are great, nice to interact with, and hey! they have to deal with people face to face, often in a crowded mall!
But every day I also have to deal with the not-so-nice aftermath of the less scrupulous ones.
I cring when I have a customer tell me that a dealer got them a free phone before they were eligible for best upgrade pricing, simply by changing thier mobile number. Every time I hear that, I look and YUP, the dealer set them up with a whole new BAN and in a week or two they will call back screaming. What messes that makes. Or dealers that tell customers to call in to get ringtones resent after an upgrade. Or that we will waive the activation fees...I even have gotten several that claimed we would pay the ETFs for the carrier they are with now if they join us.
Grrr, those few make it hard for the honest ones.

I hear ya! One of my favorites is when they add a line to a family share plan and make the added line the primary to get a bigger commission! Thats always fun when its time to upgrade.

I still get them selling people 2 year old used phones as new phones and they don't work and then we have to try and pick up the slack. buy a v551 brand new at a store. IT'S NOT BRAND NEW!

so that's what they were up to. i always wondered why the added line often showed up as the primary. it confuses the acct holder, too. They're like "Huh? That's my kid's phone, she's like 8 years old. Why is her line the primary line?"

Then there is the similar error where the added line is on a different rate plan so you have a FT plan with a primary line and an added line, then a 3rd line on a single rate plan but it was supposed to have been part of the FT plan.

Thankfully, my call center no longer handles postpaid. Prepaid is so much simpler.

I get to hear the stories of how customers are taken by un-savor and underhanded sales rep, it's unfortunate as with one group in particular is the worst when asked a senior person regarding simply said that they make too much money for the wireless provider, therefore the advice that I can give to customers is to be an educated customer and do your home work, the majority of customer will not take the time and READ the fine print and quickly sign on the dotted line and want to be rewarded for being ignorant and not taking the time to get the fact in WRITING

Do What I Do And You And You Can End Binds Very Easily. Not Only Do You Read All The Print On Contracts, Say The Dealer Does Offer To Pay The ETF Get That In Writing. Also Record The Conversation! A Pocket Recorder Can Easily Pay Itself Off By Catching Crooked Salesmen. But The Best Way Is To Get It In Writing. If They Don't Want To Do That, Just Walk Away Cuz They Are Spewing Lies.

I've worked with underhanded sales reps, its not a legal question for me, its an ethical one, if its illegal then there's no way, if its legal but unethical I won't do it

unfortunately you cannot record a call from an agent with a personal recorder. It is illegal. Just speaking only about the company I work for, if agents would do their jobs everything would go so much smoother. I am not an agents personal assistant like they think we are.If they want to issue a new number and call back 2 minutes after the new phone is activated to port a number over to replace it, I could care less if they get commission on that sale.If they are so worried about commission, then they need to step up and do the job right to start with. It all boils down to their laziness! icon_w00t.gif

When I sell add-on's for Sprint Nextel, and they want to go to a family plan, I usually have to make the new person the primary, otherwise I would have to wait until the next billing cycle to sell the add-on. Sprint Nextel will not make changes in the middle of the billing cycle, so if they want to be on the family plan . . . add-on get's the primary, old phone switches to the secondary (at the beginning of the next billing cycle) and I explain to the customer that for the first month they will pay for the family plan AND the single plan for the original line for the first month, then it will change to what they want it to be.
The way I look at it, I give the customer the ugliest bill expectation right from the start. I give them the ugly now, so they won't give me the ugly later. When they get the bill and it is smaller then I told them it could be, generally they are happy.
