My phone is dying, so I'm going to upgrade and get an LG VX8300. I'm definitely eligible for the NE2 plan (have been for a few years ), so I'll be using that. When I get my new phone, I was thinking of upgrading my plan as well.
A couple of questions for the helpful people here...
1. I'm currently on an older America's Choice 400 plan with 200 txt messages tacked on for $3/month. Is there anyway for me to upgrade to the new-fangled America's Choice 450 and retain my current deal on txt messages? I really don't need 500 per month, and I don't want to pay $10/month for something I get for $3 right now.
2. If I get a new phone but don't upgrade my plan, what does that mean for the additional plan features like the better voicemail (I only get 3x1min messages right now whereas the new plan has 20x3min)? Can I picture-message people under my current txt messaging plan?
Thanks for your help.

When you renew you are going to get 450 minutes for the same price that you are paying now. No sense in keeping your old plan. As for the messaging your probably going to lose it. There is still a plan for 250 messages for $5. Thats going to give you text and pics. If you sent a pic with your $3 plan you have now you would be charged a quarter for every pic send and received. You will also have a bigger coverage area with the new plan.

I just didn't see it pop up in the options when I was pricing it out on their website. Maybe I have to call them to get it set up the way that I want to.
Thanks for your help.

You may want to check verizon's ne2 rules. something about if you signed up on or after 11/25/02 you must upgrade the phone within 6 months of elegibility or you could be charged full price. Could this be true?

I just went on the site and read that. I have never heard that before. Maybe back around 02 they did things a little different because i have had people come in to upgrade that have been eligible for over a year and they got their discount.

What, ok I am really hitting my head against the wall! lol! More than likely the system will ALLOW your price plan/calling plan to be changed without your current text package coming off.. As for 250 msg no longer offered?? Where is that? Not where I work! If you have some "heads up" I don't know about please feel me in.. (Are you an outsourced emp, tech9999?) I change price plans many times a day, never have had an issue with the text pkg, if it comes off, you put it back on.. It is the customer's right to keep it..

Cornballer, for whatever reason, it is not listed on the website, just call Cust Service, telll them which message package you want and tell them to backdate it to the beginning of your billing cycle..
