So, we've all heard that Apple is releasing a phone. Well that got me thinking: shouldn't some of the other big companies get into the phone business? Back when the NGage was first released, it was rumored that several non-phone companies were going to jump into the market, and as such, I have a few ideas for them:

1. Sony Computer Entertainment America
Implemintation: They already have a power-houes portable device, the PSP. Why not make a UMD, or better yet a Sim Card/ Memory Stick combo that allows it to make calls?
Pro: One device would be your entertainment AND communications cetner.
Cons: It would be pushed back 3 years for development, there would only be 1 chip/umd for every 5000 PSP owners, and it would cost $700 dollars.

2. Microsoft
Implemintation: Microsoft has been slow going into the portables market, so their device would probably be the last one on the market. It would probably copy the iPhone in every way possible, but have something that was patently 'Microsoft.' Like the Zune (wifi for 'trading' purposes only?!?)
Pro: More compatability with the computer industry.
Cons: The device would weigh 5 pounds, and would have 7 software updates because of security issues within the first 3 hours of launch.

Finally, the best of the best:

3. Nintendo
Implemintation: With the release and popularity of the Wii, why not make a phone with built in motion sensitivity? Want to make a call? Put the phone up to your ear and it will activate the voice dialing. Want to send a text? Just hold the phone down like a pen, and write the message in the air, on a table, etc. Also, it could be used as an additional WiiMote.
Pro: Keep connected to important calls while playing your favorite games (and getting a work out in the process, for most people this would be the only exercise they get). Plus, knowing Nintendo, it would be hundreds of dollars cheaper.
Con: Wiidamage, but on a much larger scale.

Any additions you the list would be welcome.

uh if you knew nintendo you would realise how much they stick to the "all about games: with their consoles

the wieght and security issues for MS is just a cliche'

and sony wouldnt be pushing the PSP name past its limits when its not doing so well right now

sony is in a horrible place thanks to the PS3 and all its losses, along with poor sales

but the the iPhone will push more all in one PDA/phone like devices, even though its been done many times before, apple really isnt brigning anything new to the market, its everything in a different package but by apple = automatic sales thanks to the iPod

I hope Motorola Puts Apple in its place with the SCPL, whatever features they put into it
