This has probably been asked, but I couldn't find any topics about it after searching, so I'll ask.
The default ringtones and pictures on the VX5300 are really awful, and I would like to get some new ones. Paying per ringtone is rather lame, I think, so I would like to transfer them myself. It seems that you need some sort of software to do so, but I am not sure.
Keep in mind that my main computer is a Mac running OS X, so if software is required, I must do that. I would think that you'd be able to transfer things using Bluetooth, but then again, why would they let you do for free what they charge for?
Thanks.
EDIT: Ugh. So, I found the Bitpim program. The VX5300 isn't compatible with it. That's the only choice with Macs, I believe.

actually, bitpim kinda does support vx 5300...
so I have a 8300 and my family has the 5300..
we all wanted new ring tones so...
When connected with the 5300, go to settings and set the phone to Vx8300, so your doing it manually. It worked for all our 5300 phones only for the ringtones.. I am not sure about others, but I heard rumours wallpapers were a hassle, but ringtones work

then u just get upload your song then click send data...

Hi,
Same topic, mostly, different angle:
Does anyone know if you can use a usb cable to transfer data to/from the VX 5300; and will this work for BitPim? I've only seen mention of using bluetooth. Seems like the cable rate would be faster.
Also, I have a Mac running OS 10.3.9, so I don't need drivers for the cable. From what I can tell of the 5300 and 8300 the same Usb cable sold for the the 8300 would work for the 5300.
Anyone have experience of this?
Thanks.
