I’m having problems with my cell number getting ported over to T-Mobile form Verizon. Most of my incoming calls are going through but some are getting the message "The Verizon phone number you are calling is disconnected or not working" From what I can tell about the process is that T-Mobile does a broadcast to all the phone companies in the world and then they update their data bases that my cell phone number is now with T-Mobile.
But for some reason it does not work in all cases. After spending many hours on the phone with T-Mobile they figured this out. But now they think it's my responsibility to call all the companies that have not updated their records and fix it my self.
Has anyone else had this problem or know anything about this process?

Call verizon and verify the port was successful and then get your call transfered into the techs who deal with number porting.

A t-mobile guy told me a port can take up to 10 days to fully complete and you have whats called "dual service" in that time and your advised to carry both your phones with you during that time. Has your service with Verizon aleady been terminated?

Porting can be a bit of a bummer.
Here are some quick guidelines.
Don't cancel your old service. The lines must be active on the old provider to transfer. Your phone service should automatically cancel with the old provider once they no longer have your number.
Make sure your phone lines can be transfered. Seems silly I know but you wouldn't believe the amount of delays because the old phone was the wifes/husband's name and the new phone is not. The names should match.
As far as T mobile wanting you to contact the old provider. Did they give you a reason why? Really normally there isn't an issue because number portability is a non company issue.
