When you connect the usb cable to your p310, it should show up as a drive on your pc.
You can then browse files on it or drag and drop files into it.
Files on the memory card are viewed in your phones memory under MY FILES / MEMORY CARD
hope this helps

I also use a 1GB card... - did you install all the drivers required? - Maybe you just try it again (deinstall and installing again...)

His problem is not unique, nor (as far as I can tell) due to any error he made.
I have read elsewhere (albeit limited sources as this is not a common phone) of the same problem, and in fact I am having serious trouble being able to play any music off the memory card.
What is working:
The PC Studio software is fully functional OUTSIDE of the memory card.
Windows sees the phone and can access the drive without problem.
What is not working:
Everything inside of PC Studio does not see nor will write to the card. Nothing in the Help menu even addresses the memory cards existence. It is almost like from PC Studio's perspective there is no memory card.
If I have written to the card outside of PC Studio, I can on the phone find the memory card and the folders auto generated in it, e.g., the Music folder. However, the media player does not see any of the music there. Going through the phones My Files, you can find them, but i have read elsewhere that playing these songs any other way than selecting and playing them one at a time cannot be done. Myself, the majority of the songs places there won't play, but I believe this is due to long filenames.
I really believe that the current PC Studio software lacks the memory card functions, and that the Phone itself needs a firmware upgrade so that music on the memory card is seen by the player.
Anyone with a solution to this please email me at scott*at*scottpeach *dot*com (I used an alternative format to avoid spammer webcrawlers)
