Was the Cingular/iPhone deal a disappointment to you as much as it was to me?
Apple must develop their iPhone for other providers as well.
What say you?

It will be available for other providers but Apple will release it at first exclusively for/with Cingular.
Of course you can buy it as free phone.

Well If you look at past Itunes phones, they've been Cingular
Rokr
L7
V3i
Naturally Apple's Iphone would be a cingular exclusive as the Moto w/ iTunes were.
Don't Fret, Apple will be sure to release unlocked GSM versions, if you have a CDMA carrier looks like your SOL.

I am pissed too. Cingular service is terrible around me. I Want an iPhone more than anything in the world, but it is useless to me if the service is terrible.

The iPhone is actually not too impressive, or not as much as it seems. Verizon Wireless passed on the iPhone deal as it wasn't mutually beneficial for both companies. It is going to go to Vodafone with exclusive European rights for a while predicted. And there are also rumors about the iPhone II showing up around 2008 sometime, and will actually have a battery replacement and 3G capable. Phone without battery replacement? And how many people want to pay high end for a phone that will soon be old once competition rises?

This will be bigger than when the Razr came out first for Cingular.
It will be HUGE.

Which is why they should invest money into the reliability and stability of the network/phone. How many people will get contracts with that phone? And if it works out well, there will still be the people who complain, higher numbers increases the odds for that. And raise expectations as well.
