Steve Jobs has stated more than once that he hates PDA's, thats why he killed the newton. whats the iPhone? a freaking PDA with phone functionality, he is using the power of the iPod to push more handheld devices rather than Personal Computers
in a year we will see a better rendition of the iPhone with a respectable amount of storage, rather than crappy iPod nano size storage
I guess they haven't announced what video format but I'm suspecting their sticking with that MP4 only BS
I've been waiting for an all in one device that will replace my phone, my ipod, and my DS (yes I know the iPhone doesnt do games) but I guess the only thing I can think of positively about the iPhone is the hope that it will drive the market for all in one handheld devices
Microsoft's Handheld Gaming device maybe?
for the most part you can almost guaranteededly (that is so not a word) wait a year or so after the iPhones release and find a version 2 coming out, saving yourself $600
and people call MS evil... but thats a whole nother rant by me....
I was going to post this somewhere else like Gamespot, but this place is more fitting..

You don't know what your talking about.
Steve Jobs is amazing. and without him the Personal PC would have never came to be. even windows most likely wouldn't have come to exist without him. he is an amazing man, and he has turned apple around, and I have used both windows based PCs, and the new macs, the new macs are amazing....but that has nothing to do with this. hes no hypocrite
I wouldn't even call the iPhone a PDA or compare it to one, because it is so much more.

PDA's themselves are stupid because they're phones without the phone. Markets change. If you got a computer as a gift and exclaimed "This is the best present ever!" and then 4 years later bought a new computer - would that also mean you're a hypocrite?
Markets change. For a while now Jobs has been saying "We don't speak of possible future products" when someone asked him about a phone or pda.
Jobs is no more a hypocrite than McDonald's CEO is selling salads and big macs side by side.

technically PDA's came with all their features before cell phones became more than phones, so Phones are becoming PDA's not the other way around
and no Jobs didnt do any of that, he marketed for apple, I think your thinking of Wozniak
I used to be an apple fanatic, but I saw through the BS and now am on Windows

PDA/Smartphones can run third party applications. The iPhone can't do that, it will only support Java/Brew apps if anything. It just runs the Mac OS

So far, that's what Apple has said, but they sometimes announce restrictions that don't turn out to be true later ("fudging" for competitive advantage--sort of like Clinton's "it depends on what the definition of 'is' is"), or at least the initial restrictions sometimes get "fixed" somewhere down the road, either by Apple or a third party. We won't know if the iPhone will in fact run more applications than Apple delivers with it, until it comes out. Latest thinking is that programmers might be able to write non-Apple applications for it, but Apple won't give them the seal of approval--but that doesn't mean such apps won't run. Apple just doesn't want to be in the business of "certifying" apps for the iPhone, making buyers think a non-Apple app will automatically work as well as an official Apple iPhone app. But it's likely there will be as many bugs and deficiencies in Apple's official iPhone apps as there will be in many (theoretical) third-party iPhone apps.
Personally, until this is pinned down, I'm having a hard time deciding whether to buy a Palm Treo or wait for an iPhone. I need a PDA/phone/multi-thing that runs third-party apps, since "it's good to have options" (as Jobs likes to say), but only one that has some kind of keyboard--I had a Handspring (Palm-based), and it was a pain to enter text on that little keyboard, or using its handwriting recognition. Apple claims the iPhone's onscreen keyboard will be better than the ones in handhelds today, but we'll see.

Do You Guys Want To Know Why Apple Even Exists Today? Bill Gates. That's Right. Microsoft Had To Donate Millions To Keep Apple Alive To Avoid Monopoly Penalties In The USA. Now I Think Microsoft Owns A Part Of Apple But I'm Not Sure. They Were Going Out Of Business For A Reason. Apple Products Are Behind The Curve, And The Only Thing That Saved Them Was The IPod, Which Is The Only Thing They Did Right.

Can't someone around here do something about this drive-by posting idiot? I don't care if Apple comes or goes, but I know better than this BS.
