I downloaded the winVISTA unbranded firmware and had a go at flashing, a few failed attempts later it worked so i wrote down how i did it.
The guide can be found below, inlcuding a video showing the unbranded firmware. As this is my first post i'll have to post the URL in the next post down.
Thanks very much to almonde - I followed your instructions and was successful and am very grateful for your time.
Just one question - the 'living world' theme it comes with just shows a field. I had heard about these themes which change according to the country (Big Ben for England etc). Does this require a different version of the firmware then? Does anyone know how to get it?
Thanks

No probs, glad it worked for you!
WRT the Living World theme i'm not quite sure if because i'm in not in London therefore its showing a generic wallpaper. I'm going to London next weekend and will see if it changes! If not i guess it was wasn't fully implemented at the time this firmware was done. I'm sure within a month or two now newer firmware's will appear.

Ahh Ok, thats the firmware i've tried. Unfortunately it seems to crash about 5-10% into the flashing of the modem. What settings did you use in Fast Multiloader?

1) did not remove sim card,
2) flashed boot files first,
3) then flashed the rest of the files with the same settings as you
