I heard that after you have called T-Mobile Costumer Service to terminated a contract of an additional line within the 14-days and say you have already returned the new cell phone to the store BUT you actually still have it in your posession; will T-Mobile even notice or keep track to see if you actually returned the cell phone? I've heard that T-Mobile and other cell phone providers don't really check on that, is this true? Does T-Mobile know that people actually do this or can do this? Or will it come back and bite you in the ass.

i doubt you can pull it off. they will want you to send them the phone, or cancel it in the store where you return the phone. i cant imagine them doing it any other way. i dont think they will buy that, " i turned it at the store but can prove it" bit.
if i was told that by a customer, i would say, "well buddy, sounds like you just gave your phone away. you still owe us the phone or the money. mail either one you wish to the following address....."

If tmobile does not get a phone back, they will track it down. You will be billed for it.

that is correct. also if you ship it back to T-Mobile by FedEx, USPS, DHL or UPS and they loose it then the customer needs to find it out why and were it is by calling the carrier. and if it cannot be found then the customer is still charged.

well.. the 14 day return policy is only good if the phone is returned when the account is cancelled, otherwise the early termination fee will apply.

Definitely something you want to be careful with, especially if you are mailing your phone in. Better get insurance on that!
