I'm trying to decide whether to stay with Nextel or move to another carrier.
I'd like a phone that has the features of Nextel Motorola i930 but I think the '03 operating system is outdated and I'd prefer waiting for a windows mobile 5 phone.
Having said that, could someone educate me on the email service? To access email through Nextel I presume the i930 will work. I found the online info. confusing. The email section references a data pack section. Is the email part of the data pack and if so, where is the list of phones that support the email? Could I get a description of how the email service works, the pricing options and the phones to which it will be compatible?
Also, I'd like inside info/speculation on when the newer Nextel smart phones are likely to appear so I can decide whether to wait or not.

Addendum to the above.
I'd be very interested in a Nextel smartphone using windows mobile 5 phone with a qwerty keypad or something closer to qwerty than the basic motorola keypad. I don't want to go with blackberry, and any possible syncing problems associated with blackberry. Further, I don't want to pay an extra $39 for a blackberry plan just to access email. Seems to me the non-blackberry email options are more reasonably priced.
Anyone know if such a phone is in the works?

I don't believe any new phone is currently in the works to replace the i930, generally Nextels are out for around 3 years before they are replaced. Nextel has never done much with full keyboards on phones themselves but they frequently have keyboard accessories available. You would need the data pack to use the email function. You would also have to configure the mobile outlook on the phone, but since I rarely use any Microsoft program that I can use with someone else's, I know longer remember how to configure it. If you don't need email anymore then the $40 plan as opposed to the $50 plan then you probably don't REALLY need a Blackberry, and as Blackberries are usually very conservative and program availability is not the greatest. In the realm of IDen phones, the i930 is probably still one of the more cost effective choices. (With the possible exception of the i920 if you don't need a camera.)
