Hi,
I am new to owning a cell phone and have a question:
I just got a bill for 790 dollars for minutes they say I went over with. I feel there is a mistake and they are saying there is no mistake. I don't have a way to pay off that amount and feel tempted to just lieave the problem. I know that will adversely affect my credit but there is nothing I can do.
Can any one tell the extent of how it will affect me if I just leave and stop making monthly payments for bll? In other words not use the phone at all and just abandon the service?

It will go to collections. Not good. Try calling customer service and explain the situation and tell them you are new to this. Be nice be nice and be nice. I know you are probably frustrated but be as nice as you can and you maybe be suprised.

It will go to collections after they tack on the Early Termination Fee, usually 200 dollars. TextWhore is right call them up, and worst case scenario try to set up some form of payment plan. Having bad credit will increase the amount you pay for things in the thousands for major purchases based on lower credit scores giving you larger interest rates. Walking away would be the worst possible option. That and if it goes to court they may be able to garnish your wages. So you would pay for it anyway, get bad credit anyway, AND not have a phone of any sort, along with large deposits the next time you try to get a phone of any contract sort.

i wouldnt let it go like that. I would give them a call and cancel the agreement and i would paid off the bill on different installement , a little bit a the time. You can always try to argue if you feel is a mistake, go to the retail store where you purchase the phone and or the plan, maybe the agent made a mistake. Doesnt matter what you do, do not ruin your fututure life because of a cellphone bill. Honestly maybe now you dont care but when you ll want to buy big thing then nobody going to let you have credit like a car or buying a house which can be a real pain in the ass if you consider that you only have to pay $100 a month untli your done.
