Hey,

The facts:

1-year contract
$500 deposit
only simcard from Cingular: I had already an unlocked phone
contract expires 2/4/2007 but I would need a line till 20/3/2007

The problem:

I called the 611 hotline and spoke to a customer service person, who mentioned to me that I definitely have to close my account since it will "renew" itself for another year and I would have to pay the cancellation fees. This is what 2 representatives told me (one over 611 and one in-store rep).

I went today to another store, where a lady mentioned that after this one year, it's month to month and I wouldn't have to pay any fees if I cancel my account in March.

Who's right? The lady or the two guys?

What happens to my deposit? How fast will I get it back if I cancel by March 20?

Thanks,
Peter

Contracts do not renew automatically. Once your contract is up you go month to month.

Interesting though how well Cingular reps are versed.

Thanks a lot Malibu and Celtic for your immediate answers.

HAHA, thats so true tho, I called in to CS to take off some direct download billing or somthing of the sort I started of this is (name) with agent code (agent code) and he goes, uhhhhh. we can't do that because you're not the customer. I hang up and call back I got a rep who's been there and done that. that was funny.

I love getting reps (when I call in) who tell me they can't remove data detailed billing - I have to actually refer them to the SOC code and how to remove it. It's so funny.

My wife keeps putting it back on icon_razz.gif
