I am looking for a smart phone with integrated GPS receiver.

Are there any good ones currently available? I have seen some of the reviews for MIO A701 SIM FREE PDA PHONE WITH SIRF III GPS and not fully impressed.

Is any new ones going to come out soon?

or

Would it be better to buy a stand alone device like Chicago 6000 from Route 66?

most smart phone have gps anyway these days anyway. what is needed is a service subscription to a GPS service to enable it.a good example. cingular 8525.

go to this link.

http://www.cingular.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phone-details/?q_list= true&q_phoneName=Cingular+8525&q_sku=sku310005

click on services.

you will see similar on the other smartphones

GPS itself is for free. You only have to pay for the software. What Cingular offers as "GPS service" also needs an extra GPS receiver. What you pay for there is what you normally get from the software (like TomTom or Route66).

You don't need any GPS service providers (only useful for people who only navigate very rarely).

The Nokia N95 will have a GPS receiver built-in. All you would need is the software.

There are not many phones with GPS built in, but a used GPS receiver isn't that expensive.

If you use GPS alot you should get a "real" navigation system.

Nokia N95 has lots of features, but around Euro 899 it would burn a hole in my pocket! icon_smile.gif

Some retailer pu a huge price on unreleased phones. it is listed here in Germany with 659 to 1037 Euro.(Amazon got it with 689).

I guess the price will settle at 599 Euro when released. yeah, I know. still much money icon_biggrin.gif
