Phone Model: Motorola RAZR V3 IZAR (V3xx)
Service Provider: Cingular |

I've been on a Cingular plan (which is under my mother's name, not mine) for a long time now (since about May of 05) and I was wondering, how exactly do I "upgrade" my phone to a new one?
My old Sony Ericcson z500 is getting rather beat up and I'm in love with some of the new phones coming out from manufacturers like Motorola and Nokia. Specifically, the new RAZR V3xx and Nokia N75 for Cingular.
I just want to know is there an advantage to buying a phone directly from a carrier, or am I just paying out the ears for an overpriced phone with a fancy logo printed on it?

if ur account is eligible for an upgrade, which is usually every 2 years. you can upgrade through the online store or at a cingular store or authorized retailer. phones are cheaper from the service provider than from other retailers because they discount the phones so people can buy them and they can have the low prices because the money lost in the discount is gained over time from the telephone bills. that sums it up better stop typing lol.

Go to lets talk . com (Ignore the spaces i'm getting an error if I type it right) Click "Cell Phones" (green tab at top) Click "Cell Phones With Contract Extention". Enter your ZIP code, and you'll see the phones. I just looked and you can get a BlackJack or BlackBerry Pearl for FREE!

Go to an Authorized Retailer, you'll be able to get more personal assistance than you could ever get online, not to mention you don't have to wait to get your phone.

Already talked with a Cingular rep. Now the only REAL issue is to pick the phone I want.

4 of my friends have the SYNC, and i must say a very nice phone, with quad band EDGE 3G and full MP3 compatibility, plus you can get either red or black. Or, the new 3G RAZR is pretty sweet too, but now everyone has the RAZR, so they're not unique anymore. If you want a PDA, I would say the BlackJack, very stylish, plus full 3G internet access

Well, I'm juggling a choice either between the LG CU-500, the Samsung SYNC, or the new RAZR V3xx IZAR. All 3 I know are 3G phones with MP3 capabilities, look DAMN good in terms of raw design, and feel good in my hands (I've held all 3). The only issue I really need to resolve is which one performs the best in terms of call quality, speed, and reliability. I'm a bit dodgey on the SYNC as I HATED the D807 that I found and used just as a backup phone for a while. The RAZR interests me the most just because I've liked how Motorola handles their phone GUIs, and the CU-500 I know has an uber-fast OS. The only thing is which one would I be most satisfied with? The big thing is I want to use custom ringtones (from my PC) like right off the bat.

My last big question is this: Does the LG-CU500 come with a data cable or do I have to shell out like $60 for the cable and software from Cingular?
